Game of Thrones eGuide Essentials The World of Westeros

Adventuring in Westeros

In a world where a season can last generations, winter and its ill omens descend on Westeros. Mors Westford, a sworn brother of the Night’s Watch, defends the Wall from wildling raiders and only has thoughts of defending the land and protecting the honor of his brotherhood...until he meets a young woman with a fateful past. Alester Sarwyck returns from a 15-year self-imposed exile to the East only to discover his once-proud family and kingdom lie in near ruin. In Game of Thrones , you play through alternating story lines involving Mors Westford and Alester Sarwyck. These story lines eventually converge in an epic tale of betrayal and brutality, honor and heroism.

As you follow the stories of Mors and Alester, you will explore the world of Westeros. There are many unique locales and many areas within each main location. Here are the four places where you will spend most of your time: Castle Black, Riverspring, King’s Landing, and Castlewood.

Castle Black

Castle Black is the heart of the Night’s Watch and the cornerstone of the Wall’s defense. Mors Westford begins his adventures here. Though a strong fortress against the perils north of the Wall, there is much duplicity and treachery lurking in the Night’s Watch camp.

Riverspring

Riverspring is the ancient home to the Sarwyck family. Alester returns to this city at the beginning of his adventure. The kingdom mourns many recent losses, and the city has fallen on hard times. Because Alester has been abroad for 15 years, he walks as a stranger among those he once knew.

King’s Landing

The biggest city in the game, King’s Landing holds the royal palace of Queen Cersei Lannister, along with countless shops, alleys, and even dungeon corridors. Even as far away as the Wall, Mors will find events leading him to King’s Landing; Alester’s family struggles lure him there too.

Castlewood

Lord Harlton’s fortress sits in the woods away from courtly affairs. A friend of Alester’s father, Lord Harlton holds secrets tied to the mysteries surrounding the Sarwycks. Alester will visit Castlewood in search of answers.

The Westeros Map

Your quests with Mors and Alester will take you north and south across Westeros. During breaks in the action, you can access the world map through select exit points (indicated by a bird icon on your current map) and return to certain areas you have visited in the past. You might, for example, want to return to Castle Black to work on a side quest even though you’ve progressed far through the story line down to King’s Landing.
