Game of Thrones eGuide Walkthrough Chapter 12: Fight Fire with Fire

Chapter 12: Fight Fire with Fire - Riverspring Castle

Riverspring Castle

Objective Point A

You enter the castle’s ground floor at the stairs that lead up to the throne room. Ready yourself and go speak with Wex at the top of the stairs.

Objective Point B

Talk with Wex in the throne room. He won’t recognize you in the new armor and helm, and you find out that Maester Harwyn is alive and treating the wounded in his room.

Maester Harwyn Is Alive! Before Launching The Attack, You Must Ensure His Safety.

Objective Point C

Go see Harwyn in his room. You secretly reveal that you’ve infiltrated the guards and ask him for a status report. He explains that one of Wex’s chief soldiers is severely wounded, and he has been tasked with saving him. If you convince Harwyn to save the man, Wex will be grateful later and he will give you the means to opening the main doors. Harwyn will also be saved. If you don’t save the wounded man, you will have to kill Jorah up in Alester's room and loot the seal from Jorah's body to get the main doors open. You can also retrieve Gawen's locket there, which will provide you with a stat bonus.

It Is Time To Take Back Your Castle. Find A Way To Open The Gates For Your Men.

Objective Point D

Return to Wex in the throne room. If you saved his man, he will be in a good mood and you can ask for a favor or two. First, demand Ravella for your reward. He will give her to you, and you can safeguard her. In return, she gives you the Crone statuette for “The Faith of Our Ancestors” side quest. Second, ask Wex for permission to go into town now that the castle is secure and fully plundered. He agrees, and you can take that command to Blurd at the main door and he’ll let you through.

As soon as you open the main doors, Ryman and his men storm through. Overwhelm the three enemies at the door and set up your position to attack the rest of the castle.

Take Back Your Castle And Slaughter The Bloodseekers That Infest It.

Objective Point E

Before you siege the castle, you have a choice at the main doors: take the left wing (the greater challenge) or take the right wing (the lesser challenge). Since you and Ryman are a much more formidable fighting group than the normal soldiers, opt for the left wing and let your other soldiers take on fewer enemies in the right wing.

When the doors to the left wing open, attack the guard on the stairs with a ranged weapon and draw him to you. With you and Ryman working together, he won’t be a threat for long.

Objective Point F

Advance up the stairs to the balcony overlooking the dining area. Engage the nearby enemies without alerting the ones down below. If you move into the dining area while fighting these foes, you’ll have trouble—both enemy groups converging on you will be a very difficult task even for your advanced skills.

Objective Point G

Proceed to the stairs leading down into the dining area, and attack the next set of guards. Look out for the enemy with a ranged weapon who will pelt you from the other side of the long table. Retreat to the stairs and use them as cover if the enemies begin to flank you.

After you kill the dining room enemies, open the door to the right of the stairs into the kitchen and take out the two remaining foes who missed out on the last fight.

Objective Point H

Climb the stairs and open the door into your father’s office. More enemies roam the large room. Ensure they don’t ever leave.

Objective Point I

Now open the door opposite the office. This leads out onto the main balcony overlooking the ground floor. A series of enemy groups guards the balcony. Take out the first group from the cover of the landing or the door’s threshold.

Advance a little farther down the balcony and draw the next enemy group toward you. There are more enemies on the other side of the balcony, so be careful not to draw their attention too. Finish off these foes before circling the balcony to the far side.

Objective Point J

If you have a ranged weapon, it’s possible to shoot across the open expanse and strike the enemies on the far side. Otherwise, charge around to their side and let Ryman take their blows while you pick them off one by one.

Find Greydon And His Men To Clear The City.

Objective Point K

You’ll locate Greydon in the stairwell on the balcony’s other side. He says the battles in the other wing were brutal, and only he and one other man survived. They will join you as you assault the throne room, but there are only four of you to take on Wex and his men.

Now That The Bloodseekers Have Scattered, Strike Their Officers Down. Eliminate Wex.

Objective Point L

Challenge Wex and his remaining men in the throne room. It’s a large battle, so save your stuns and knockdowns for Wex or for when enemies begin to gang up on you. Take out the enemies in light armor first, then move on to the heavier-armored foes and Wex. Try to interrupt Wex’s attacks and keep him contained until two of you can double-team him. After the battle, you can pull Splasher off Wex’s corpse.

Now That The Castle Is Yours, Find Harwyn To Come Up With A Plan Of Action.

Objective Point M

Gather all your men and plan out the attack against the Bloodseekers in Riverspring. You have three major choices to make during the attack: where to place your bowmen, where to place your pikemen, and where to place the armed villagers. Ideally, you’ll place bowmen with Ryman, pikemen with Greydon, and armed villagers with Jon. This will achieve the greatest success in the battle. Most other combinations will succeed (see Caution), but with great losses, including the death of Ryman if he’s with the armed villagers or the death of Greydon if he’s with the bowmen.

Go And Pay Your Respects To Mors’ Body In The Castle Courtyard.

Objective Point N

The battles are over for now. Go visit your friend Mors in the courtyard. You didn’t have time before, but now you can give him R’hllor’s kiss as a final send-off to the afterlife. You leave the dead, feeling a great sorrow settling over you. Suddenly, unbelievably, Mors revives and sits straight up!
