Speak To The Guards To Gather Information And Access The Dungeons Without Arousing Suspicion
Objective Point A
Enter the City Watch Tower. While in uniform, you can roam freely throughout the main floor. Talk to as many guards as you can before making your decisions on how best to pursue your mission in the tower.
Objective Point B
Interview the guards and you’ll learn this: The guards are wagering on how long the final prisoner will survive in the tower dungeon; Commander Janos Slynt is in charge of the tower, but he’s left for the Red Keep; and the guards are all afraid of Ser Harrold.
Objective Point C
Speak with Caron when you want to see the corpse and the prisoner down in the dungeon. If you tell Caron that you want to wager on the prisoner and that you want to see him first before you make the bet, he’ll let you downstairs.
Find Gawen’s Body
Objective Point D
You can speak with Humphrey, who guards the cells in the basement area. The conversation doesn't really impact your objective; Humphrey will let you pass to see the body in both cases.
Objective Point E
Inspect the dead body in the side room. It appears to be your brother Gawen: He wears the Sarwyck crest on his clothes, and there’s a letter on the body from Falena.
While you torture yourself over the corpse and how you should have done more for your brother, Humphrey checks on you. He wants to know if you’re through, and you ask to see the prisoner. He refuses on the grounds that you might kill the prisoner and he’ll lose the wager he bet on him. You can choose to bribe Humphrey, threaten him with your “connections” to Ser Harrold, or simply attack him to get through to see the prisoner.
Interrogate The Murderer Held Prisoner In The Basement
Objective Point F
Go see the prisoner, Orys, locked in his cell. You explain that you’re not really a Gold Cloak and it’s in his best interest to talk to you. Orys says it was Janos Slynt who paid him to kill those men in the sewers, and then the Commander of the City Watch betrayed Orys and locked him away. He also recognized a letter from Valarr to Slynt in the Commander’s office upstairs; if you could get that, it would prove Valarr’s involvement in the whole seedy affair. Before you leave, you have the opportunity to attack Orys, or you can wait to attack him later or set him free.
Access The Officers’ Quarters To Search The City Watch Commander’s Office
Objective Point G
Return to the ground floor and speak with Raymun, who guards the stairs up to the first floor. If you pretend to be on a mission, tell him that Janos Slynt sent you, and remind him that Slynt isn’t in the tower at the moment and hates to be disappointed, he’ll give in and let you upstairs.
Objective Point H
Climb the stairs and proceed to the last room. Read the Mission Order on the table; it will confirm that Valarr has been working with Janos Slynt to murder Gawen. Return to Orys down in the cells. Make your choice whether he lives or dies.
Help Orys Escape, Or Leave Him To Rot
Objective Point I
If you kill Orys, you can simply walk out of the tower and no one will be the wiser. If you leave with Orys, Caros will stop you when you return to the ground fl oor. If you have the seal and tell Caron that Orys is being transferred, you can leave without a fight. If you try to lie to him in any other manner or attack him outright, you will have to battle through every guard in the tower to escape.
Objective Point J
If you choose to fight it out, prepare for a very long battle against several groups of Gold Cloaks. To make matters worse, Orys has only a dagger, so the enemies have better armor by far than your small group. Orys will need a lot of supportive damage if he leads the charge. It’s generally better for you to take on the Gold Cloaks and let Orys chip away with damage from the perimeter.
