Far Cry Primal Guide › Takkar's Journey

Path to Oros

Gather Resources and Craft a Bow

Objective: Gather resources to craft a bow (5 Alder Wood, 2 Reeds, 2 Slate)

Takkar is the lone survivor from the group and must continue the search for Oros and his Wenja brothers. Not having the means to defend yourself, your first objective is to find the resources necessary to make a weapon. Activate Hunter Vision to highlight these items in the environment. The yellow glow allows for quick recognition of anything that can be interacted with. There are no threats in the immediate area, so freely run around as you collect the required resources. Once it is available, access the crafting menu and select the bow.

Arrows

When you craft the bow, you receive eight arrows. After you fire an arrow, you can recover it from a target’s body or off the ground by coming in contact with it. You can create more arrows from the weapon wheel with any Hardwood you gather from the trees.

Find Food

Objective: Hunt and Skin Three Goats for Food

Head northwest to find a few Goats milling around the area. Crouch and move slowly as you approach the animals or they flee the area. Take one out with a couple of arrows to the body or one to the head. If you make contact, but don’t kill a Goat, use Hunter Vision to track the blood trail; it always leads to the body. Skin the carcass to receive meat, a skin, and your arrow. Repeat this with two more Goats to complete the objective.

Hunting

This objective teaches the basics of hunting, tracking, and skinning the wildlife. Here it is vital so that Takkar can eat, but it is always a good idea to hunt the variety of animals that inhabit Oros. The meat and skins obtained from their carcasses are required for survival. You are only able to transport so much of each resource. Upgrade the Guts Bag and other gear to increase the amount that can be carried. Messages appear on screen as you approach and reach your limits.

Find Shelter

Objective: Find Shelter and Light a Campfire

Find shelter at the far west side of the map. Step under the rock cover in the corner and look for the campfire inside. Use one Hardwood to start a fire. After standing up, as long as you have three Alder Wood, create a club from the crafting menu. Face the fire and hold the Interact button to make a torch. This allows you to see at night and inside dark caves.

Track the Wenja

Objective: Follow the Wenja Tracks

Evidence of another Wenja is found at the campfire. Use your Hunter Vision to spot footprints leading to the west. Vines block the path ahead, so hold the torch out to set them on fire, clearing the way.

Investigate

Many times when tracking someone, you can investigate significant findings further to uncover new clues and gain valuable XP. Look for bigger red items in Hunter Vision and then approach the spot. A “search” or “investigate” prompt appears on screen when this is possible. Always take advantage of the easy experience.

Continue following the tracks, checking for clues on the sides of the path. Watch out for the drop off, as Takkar does take fall damage. Use the vines on the right to climb down safely. Eventually you hear Wolves farther ahead. Approach cautiously as three hungry Wolves pose your biggest threat yet. They are afraid of fire though, so hold out your torch to keep them at bay. Circle around to the side and force them to flee in the direction from which you came.

Take Down the Wolves

If you want to collect the resources from the canines, set them on fire and pelt them with arrows. You can set the projectiles on fire to keep the prey away. Track the blood trails and skin the dogs to get the loot.

Climb into the cave and keep moving forward as the footprints lead the way. Jump into the water at the next drop off, extinguishing your fire in the process. Once you are back on dry land, access the weapon wheel and relight your club using Animal Fat. Further inside the cave, climb up the short wall on the left and move through the waterfall—again extinguishing your flame.

Relight the club and jump across the gap. Crouch when the ceiling gets too low. Eventually, you drop into more water. Swim downstream until you spot someone on the ledge ahead and climb out of the water to find the other Wenja.
