Setup
Once Vision of Ice is complete, the quest marker for Big Darwa Fort unlocks on the map. This mission is rated very hard and likely requires some preparation before taking on. Similar to capturing an outpost, the fort is littered with Udam fighters and alarms, with your first mini-boss, Dah, waiting at the finish. When you are ready, head to the location in the northeast. This fort must be captured before you can proceed toward the Udam leader, Ull, who is holed up in a cave on the other side of their homeland. The Heavy Takedown skill allows you to take down the large Chieftain enemies, making this fight a little simpler.
Strategy
There are three ways into the fort. Grapple points at two and three lead to the northwest corner and far west side of the camp respectively. From the far south, the camp can be entered up the main path. From there, you can go straight into the main gate or east toward Dah’s position. Three alarms and two Udam Elite slingers mean that more than likely you must deal with reinforcements, who enter from the south and east when called. It is best to take out everyone north and west of Dah. Then, if more enemies are called, there are fewer to deal with at that point.
The northwest entrance is a great location to plan your attack. A caged Leopard offers a decent stealth companion if you don’t have one already available. Start out by taking down the Udam Elite Archer, pulling him behind the cage, and destroying the first alarm. Use your Owl to scout out the post and then quietly eliminate the Udam Elite Scourge and Udam Elite Chieftain to the east. The enemies on the south side of the bridges change positions at nighttime.
The middle area can get fairly busy, so try drawing enemies out from groups with rocks. Carry bodies into the brush to avoid detection. The enemy civilians can be spared, but remember that they too can call reinforcements, so stay out of view. Once the area is clear, free the Wenja in the cage by busting it open and untying her.
Avoid Dah until you have defeated the rest of the Udam. When only he remains, sic your beast on him and launch arrows and spears at him. Stay clear of his powerful club and rot fumes. When your pet goes down, make a loop around the camp to draw Dah away and revive it. By avoiding the mini-boss, keeping your beast attacking, and pelting Dah with weapons, you eventually take him down. Instead of killing him though, Takkar invites him to join the Wenja village and teach the others how to make rot bane.
