Once the first mission, Path to Oros, is complete, you start building your Wenja village and help out the villagers on numerous quests. You must collect resources to build and upgrade huts as well as craft new weapons and gear. Completing quests, discovering locations, and capturing bonfires and outposts all earn XP. This, in turn, is used to purchase skills, available as you add specialists to your village.
Main Missions
Eight specialists found through your travels offer up a variety of missions. Every mission earns XP while occasionally unlocking new abilities, gear, food recipes, and resources. Some missions are required to move the story along. Refer to the Journey Progression chapter to find out how they are unlocked.
Secondary Quests
A number of secondary quests also become available as you progress through the game. Beast Master Hunts, Village Missions, Help Wenja quests, Tribal Clashes, Cave Quests, and Wenja Events all earn you extra XP for completion. Take advantage of these side quests to quickly learn new skills. Full walkthroughs for all Secondary Quests can be found in their respective chapters.
Wenja Events
Wenja Events happen randomly as you travel the land of Oros. Successfully completing them awards the player with XP and more villagers.
Rescue
A small group of enemies marches a Wenja ally back to their encampment. Quickly kill the enemies before they can attack their hostage.
Once all enemies are dead, move in and untie the hostage to complete the mission.
Defend
A group of four Wenja require your assistance against an onslaught of enemies.
Help the Wenja survive each wave of enemies and any remaining Wenja join your village.
Carrier
These events require you to kill and search the Carrier. The Carrier is marked by an objective marker and is generally escorted by two to four other enemies of the same tribe. When you initiate contact with the group of enemies, the Carrier attempts to flee before taking cover a short distance away.
You do not need to kill all of the enemies in the small hunting group, just killing and looting the body of the Carrier completes the Wenja Event.
Beast Repel
A group of predators attacks Wenja. Use your spears and arrows to kill them quickly before they can get in and attack your tribe. Once you kill all the animal waves, the Wenja join your village.
Skirmish
A small Wenja hunting group has stumbled across a group of enemies. Help the Wenja quickly kill all of the enemy invaders. The combat tactics you’ve used elsewhere serve you well here.
Locations
During your travels, you discover new locations such as caves and campfires. Unknown locations earn you XP as well as a few perks. Navigate or fight your way through Lost Caves to find two types of collectibles, Daysha Hands and Cave Paintings. Doing so completes the cave and earns a decent amount of XP. Discovered campfires act as spawn points; die and you respawn at the closest one. Unknown locations earn you bonus points just for walking through a new area.
Outposts
Outposts are heavily fortified areas held by the enemies. Liberating them unlocks a Fast Travel Point, access to the Rewards Stash, and a safe place to rest.
Bonfires
Bonfires are large beacons that mark your territory once claimed. Get rid of nearby enemies and light the bonfires to claim them for your tribe. Claimed bonfires unlock Fast Travel points, offer safe places to rest, and provide access to you Reward Stash.
