Far Cry Primal eGuide Secondary Quests Beast Master Hunts

Snowblood wolf

Difficulty: Very Hard

Awards: High XP

Special: Tame the Snowblood Wolf leader.

The entrance to the Snowblood Dire Wolf Beast Master Hunt zone is in the far south. It is relatively easy to find. Follow the main river south and it takes you to the zone entrance. Keep following the river and you arrive at the quest giver.

Make sure to have your spear ready before accepting the quest from the dead Wenja body. Two Wolves immediately attack you once the cut scene ends. Kill the Wolves, stock up on Hardwood from the Rewards Stash nearby, and then head south toward the objective marker.

An Izila Hunting group is spread out in the forest near your first clue. Use your Hunter Vision to spot them, and the Wolves that are lurking in the forest. Once you’ve killed them, follow the blood trail to a dead Bear and examine it.

Follow the blood trail south, leading you down to a small pond. A group of three Izila Archers and three Wolves spawns just before you reach the water. Send in your beast to kill the Izila while you focus on killing the Wolves.

The next clue is a dead Izila Villager on shore next to a boat and a couple of nets.

Head directly south following the trail with your Hunter Vision, this short walk has no enemies, so use it to craft weapons and gather any materials you may need along the way. You reach a small camp with an overturned bowl which is full of fish, inspect it.

Run down the riverbed another short distance with no enemies until you come across a blood stained section with some broken spears. These broken spears are your next clue.

Follow the paw prints east to the standing stones. A group of four Izila, three Archers and one Spearman, attack you as you follow the trail. After killing them, you reach the hunting area for the first of the Snowblood Wolves.

Examine the dead Izila on the ground, then set all of the traps in the area and prepare yourself for the oncoming Wolf assault.

The Great Beast traps kill any regular Wolf in one hit and deal great amounts of damage to the Snowblood Wolf. This first Wolf dies much easier than the Alpha you fight in the third battle.

Once you free the caged Wenja, the assault begins. Head slightly north from the cage area as you free the Wenja. An objective marker spawns on the Snowblood Wolf to guide you to an opportune chance to take a good chunk of health off of the Wolf. As the Wolf appears, it howls from the top of a rock to summon the other Wolves, leaving it open to an easy headshot with your spear.

A fully upgraded spear takes the Wolf down to half health. Send your beast after it to finish it off and prepare yourself to take on five Wolves. Melee shots to the head with your spear can quickly kill the Wolves. If you kill them quickly, you never face more than one at a time, making this fight much easier. If you begin to get overrun, head through your traps, forcing the Wolves to set them off to continue their chase.

After killing the Wolf, head west toward the marsh. You can open your map and set a marker on the objective to help you head in the right direction. Use your Hunter Vision to locate the tracks leading you to a dead Izila Villager at the praying stones.

Arm the Great Beast Traps as you follow the path and then arm the ones next to the dead Izila before inspecting the body, as this spawns the second Snowblood Wolf.

Stand your ground and use your bow to pick off the Wolves as the advance on your location. If they begin to surround you, you can jump into the water and let your Beast take care of the Wolves. Wolves cannot follow you into the water, allowing you to put distance between yourself and them to heal and perform ranged attacks

After the second Snowblood Wolf is dead, head northeast for your final fight with the Alpha Snowblood Wolf. Set a marker on your map to help you stay on course. Following the prints with your Hunter Vision leads you to a small fishing camp. A bowl of fish spilled out onto the shore is another clue you can grab for bonus XP.

The tracks lead away from this fishing camp into another Izila camp partially engulfed in flames.

A dead Izila next to a stone in the ground is your next clue.

The paw prints take you to the Tomb of Teeth. Inside a Wolf guards your next clue, a dead Izila who attempted to hide from the Wolves.

Continue through the small tomb after examining the clue. When you emerge from the cave you are greeted by the Alpha Snowblood Wolf.

Use your bow to pick off the five regular Wolves that surround the Alpha from a distance. The Alpha and remaining Wolves retreat a short distance into the woods after you begin to fire your bow. There are Great Beast Traps in this area, but if you continue to keep your distance, focusing on killing the regular Wolves, these are not needed.

After you’ve killed off all of the standard Wolves, send your beast at the Alpha Snowblood Wolf and start throwing spears at it. When it reaches 50% health it begins to retreat. Use your beast to stall its advance and quickly finish it off with a few more Spears, avoiding a fight in the Snowblood Den.

Once you’ve critically wounded the Wolf, he is ready to tame. Approach him and claim the Alpha Snowblood Wolf as your companion.
