Udam Homeland
Prerequisite: Complete Into Udam Land and talk to Sayla
Main Objective: Enter Udam Homeland, find Ull, and kill him
Difficulty: Very Hard
Special: An Antidote is required to get through the deadly poison fumes
Overview
Fast Travel to Big Darwa Fort and find the tunnel in the back. This final Udam mission is split into three parts: Crossing the Udam Canyons and Raider Camp, capturing Mamsa Saja Bonfire, and entering Ull’s cave with the ultimate goal of killing the leader.
Getting In
Rot fumes block your way to Udam Homeland, but by taking an Antidote, you can make it through the tunnel with time to spare. Cross the rock bridge to reach the poison caves. From there, proceed through the canyons to reach the first Udam camp.
Cross Udam Canyons
Objective: Cross through the Udam canyons
Enemies: Udam Elite Hunter, Udam Spearmen, Udam Warriors, Udam Elite Spearmen, Udam Archers, Udam Slingers, Udam Elite Archer
Udam Canyons is a long, narrow gorge that can be crossed either along the valley floor below, or on the rock ledges above. There is less resistance above, plus this gives you a better vantage point. It is not necessary to kill all of the Udam, but it is an option with more XP earned. Three groups of Udam must be dealt with, a camp and two watch posts. Easily deal with the three guys at the camp by getting behind the campfire, just be aware of the one on patrol.
Just ahead, quickly use the grappling point on the right to reach higher ground. Avoid being detected by the guard in the tower and grapple up another level to reach a lone Udam. Quietly drop him and then eliminate the watcher, either with your bow or let your Owl take care of him.
Follow the right ledge toward the second watch post, taking down the Archer along the way. Pull out the long bow and kill the Slinger in the watchtower. Kill the few remaining Udam or sneak past to exit the canyons.
Raider Camp
Objective: Cross through raider camp to reach The Hunting Valley
Enemies: Udam Archers, Udam Warriors, Udam Slinger, Udam Spearman, Udam Elite Chieftain
Cross the bridge to reach an Udam raider camp. Several Udam occupy the camp, but it can be traversed with minimal confrontation. Take cover in a bush and release your Owl to scout the area. Most enemies are found in the middle of the camp, including the Chieftain. Climb the vine and quietly take out the first Udam. Sneak along the left edge through the camp to avoid detection, tossing rocks to distract and move patrols away. The occasional loner gives you the opportunity for an easy takedown; just be sure to deposit the body behind cover or in the brush. Continue toward your destination until you reach The Hunting Valley.
There are plenty of resources to gather and wildlife to hunt in this open area. Take this opportunity to restock your supplies. A number of strong, tamable predators are present in case you haven’t already added them to your roster, including Cave Bears and Sabretooth Tigers.

What location draws me the most? The glacier. This is one of the biggest threats of this time, and home of the Udam tribe. It’s also the farthest zone and one of the most beautiful with a very iconic backdrop. — Fabien Govini, Level Design Director |
Capture Mamsa Saja Bonfire
Objective: Reach the Udam bonfire and claim it for Wenja
Awards: 1200 XP, Population
Special: Fast Travel, Spawn Point, Reward Stash
Enemies: Udam Elite Hunters, Udam Elite Spearmen
A central bonfire offers the usual amenities close to Ull’s cave—allowing you to easily travel Oros, access your Reward Stash, rest, and respawn nearby. Climb onto the vantage point on the west side and release your Owl to recon the camp, including patrols around the perimeter. Without an alarm or Elite Slingers, there is no threat of reinforcements. Clear out the outside guys first and then move in on those around the center, pulling them away if necessary.
Enter Ull’s Cave
Objective: Find Ull’s cave and enter
Enemies: Udam Elite Archers, Udam Elite Warriors, Udam Elite Spearman, Udam Elite Hunter, Udam Slingers, Udam Elite Chieftains
Your next objective is to reach Ull’s cave, but an Udam camp sits just outside the entrance. Find a nice vantage point just north of the camp and tag the enemies with your Owl. There are a lot of them, so be sure to get them all. Two Chieftains are your biggest threat as they guard the main entrance. A second, secret entrance sits just to the east. If combat is more your style, have your Owl thin them out with bombs before picking them off. Otherwise, cautiously move up the east side, killing lone Udam with takedowns and moving others out of the way. Enter Ull’s cave at the left, smaller entrance. If you can perform heavy takedowns, you can enter the main entrance by waiting for them to separate and killing them.
Find Ull
Objective: Search the cave for Ull
Enemies: Udam Warriors, Udam Elite Chieftain, Udam Elite Warrior, Udam Hunters, Udam Slinger, Udam Archer, Udam Scourge
This cave system is big with one long path to the back, where you find Ull, but there are many side paths along the way. Keep moving toward the quest marker and you shouldn’t get lost. Udam are only really a threat in the middle section and at the end where they protect their leader. Besides a lone Warrior, civilians are all you find in the first part of the cave and are easily avoided by sticking to the side, unless you brought a Bear companion, who causes a panic.
After the narrow, right bend, several Udam guard and patrol the next cavern. At first you only see a lone Warrior with his back turned. Kill and drag him into the previous room. Climb into the left tunnel and use the higher vantage point to survey the layout. Quickly take out the watchers above and wait for things to die down if the enemy was alerted.
Now work your way around the right side. Kill the Scourge on the small ledge, and then take care of the Hunters who wander the corridors below. Finish off the remaining Udam, including the Chieftain near the exit. In the next room, a solitary Warrior stands under an icicle. Shoot the ice to drop it on his head before following the path into the room before the boss. Collect the weapons scattered around and prepare for a big fight, including calling in your strongest beast.
Kill Ull
Objective: Kill Ull
Enemies: Udam Archers, Udam Elite Hunters, Udam Elite Spearmen, Udam Elite Warriors, Udam Spearmen, Udam Warriors, Ull
Ull stands in the middle of the final room surrounded by three soldiers. Throughout the fight, reinforcements enter from the sides. A tunnel runs underneath one side, offering a place to flee, while a ledge gives height advantage on the other. Look for puddles of water on the ground, indicating icicles that hang above. These ice shards can be hit with an arrow or spear, causing them to drop. This kills weaker enemies while stunning and hurting Ull. This is the best attack against the boss, taking off a good chunk of his health. It is fairly tough to pull off though, since you must time the attack and the ice shards are limited.
Ull is a fast, powerful Chieftain. He has armor that can be broken off by attacking it directly. With the protection removed, he takes more damage at that location. He wields a big club, has a devastating charge attack, and launches poison bombs. Keep an antidote buff active whenever Ull is around to nullify the rot bane’s effect.
Once you are ready to take him on, enter the arena. Look right and shoot the icicle above Ull, stunning the boss. Quickly hop down behind him and press the Takedown button to stab him. Immediately back away as he swings and throw a couple of spears into him. Turn around and flee to another location to rest up and heal if needed.
Use the lower tunnel to get away from trouble. Be careful though, it is easy to get trapped with a large number of enemies. The ledge on the other side of the arena gives a good view of the room, but watch your back as reinforcements pour in from the small alcove. Kill the weaker enemies whenever you get a chance to limit their numbers. It can get overwhelming if left unchecked.
A strong beast does great damage to the boss, but it does not last long. Ull takes the animal down quickly. Draw Ull away and circle back around to your companion to get it back in the fight. As long as your beast is up, it should be attacking.
Continue to keep pressure on Ull, looking for opportunities to drop ice on him. Watch your health and keep your beast in the fight. Piles of spears and arrows lie near supply sacks. Seek them out when needed. Stay on the move and get in attacks when possible. When he falls, Udam Sanctum is complete.
