Oros isn’t just a flat barren landscape, you need to master climbing, grappling, running, swimming, and sneaking through all the land. You can also use Fast Travel or the help of a nearby Mammoth to help you traverse the lands more quickly.
Walking/Sprinting
Move Takkar with the Left Stick. To move faster, press L3 to sprint. Sprinting draws the attention of nearby predators and enemies. Some animals, such as the Woolly Rhino or Mammoth, may perceive a sprinting Takkar as an enemy and attack. Sprinting also scares nearby animals, making hunting much harder.
Climbing
Takkar can climb small ledges by simply pulling himself up. Most smaller ledges can be climbed by pressing X/A, causing Takkar to jump into the air and pull himself onto the object.
Other ledges that may seem a bit out of reach are marked with vines and are highlighted yellow when using Hunter Vision. Move as close as you can to the ledge, look up and follow the prompt, and Takkar pulls himself to the top of the ledge.
Grappling
After unlocking the grappling claw, you are allowed to pull yourself up large cliff faces at certain points. These points are marked by a grappling claw icon at the actual grappling point. A cave painting of an eagle with its wings spread open is usually at the base of grappling points, signaling you to look up and locate the grappling point. When hanging from a grappling point, you can grapple to any other grappling point within range.
Once you are looking at the grappling point and within range, press and hold Square/X to throw your grappling claw up to the grappling point. Use L2/LT to go down, R2/RT to go up, X/A to jump, and Circle/B to detach yourself from the rope.
Swimming
When you enter water that is deep enough, Takkar immediately switches from walking to swimming. While swimming you can use the Left Analog Stick to move around. To go underwater, change your camera angle with the Right Analog Stick to face under the water.
Enemies cannot spot you when you are under water so you can use this to help with a stealth approach on a group of enemies or animals.
Swimming is one of the best ways to escape enemies; quickly enter deep water and submerge yourself. Swim a short distance and reemerge. Even if they detect you, you can quickly sprint or use your bow to kill them from a distance.
Stealth
Remaining concealed is important for surviving. Stay crouched to lower your audio and visual imprint in the environment. Crouching is essential for hunting. Bushes and boulders make up the majority of cover points in Oros.
When undetected, you can make short work of enemies by performing takedowns with R3 when within distance. Submerging yourself in bodies of water also helps you stay undetected when moving.
