The more advanced Izila live in the southern marshlands of Oros with fertile land ideal for farming. The tribe also has a firm grasp on everything fire. Their belief that they are superior to all other tribes leads them to enslave members of the Wenja and Udam. It is up to the Wenja to take the fight to the Izila and remove their leader before more of their tribe is taken. Their fire bomb is a devastating weapon which you gain late in the game.
Izila troops tend to have higher HP and damage than the Udam, requiring better weapons. This should be the case though as the story takes you to Izila territory later in the game when you are more powerful.
Archer
Role: Primal Assaulter
HP: High
Damage: Medium
Attack Frequency: Medium
Range: Medium/Long
Movement Speed: Medium
Special: -
Elite Characteristics: Breakable Helmet
Unlike the Udam, the Izila use women in their army, as the Archers and Hunters. Archers shoot from cover so bring them out of hiding by sending in your beast or tossing a bomb. Of course it is better to kill them quietly with a headshot or takedown before being detected. The Izila Archers have more HP than their Udam counterparts so they may take more to kill.
Hunter
Role: Stealth
HP: Medium
Damage: Medium
Attack Frequency: Medium
Range: Medium/Long
Movement Speed: Medium
Special: Fire Arrows
Elite Characteristics: Breakable Helmet
Hunters are similar to Archers except they shoot fire arrows and hide from their target. They are not as prevalent as Archers, stationed mostly at later locations. They do not light every arrow, shooting a few regular projectiles before igniting another. Watch out for their deadly attacks, breaking line of sight whenever possible. When up close, Hunters swing with their knives.
Chieftain
Role: Anti-Beast Tank
HP: Very High
Damage: Very High
Attack Frequency: Slow
Range: Melee
Movement Speed: Slow/Charge
Special: Elite only, Takedown requires Heavy Takedown skill
Elite Characteristics: Indestructible Helmet, Roar Charge, Fire Ground Strike
An elite-only troop, these guys are very similar to the Udam; they have a strong melee attack and are tough to kill. The Heavy Takedown skill is required to score a takedown. There is also a skill available for the Owl that allows it to eliminate a Chieftain. Make these guys an early priority, just after Elite Slingers and alarms. The stronger beasts, such as Bears or Tigers, are best against these foes; they beat down lesser animals with ease. This Izila carries a big, fire-lit torch that he slams against the ground for a devastating fire attack.
Scourge
Role: Area of Effect Unit
HP: High
Damage: High
Attack Frequency: Slow
Range: Medium/Melee
Movement Speed: Medium
Special: Fire Bomb
Elite Characteristics: Breakable Helmet
The Izila Scourge lobs fire bombs. This makes them a much bigger threat than their Udam equivalent, since there is not an easy way to counter the attack like the Antidote. Their bomb sets an area on fire with the ability to spread quickly. Navigate away from the area when you notice one incoming. Scourge may not be as large a threat as the Chieftain or Slinger, but they do pose a danger.
Slinger
Role: Primal Sniper
HP: Medium
Damage: Medium
Attack Frequency: Medium
Range: Long
Movement Speed: Slow
Special: -
Elite Characteristics: Breakable Helmet, Blow Horn (to call for reinforcements)
In its regular form, the Slinger poses a relatively minor danger. Their sling does cause decent damage from a long distance, but as long as you break line of sight, they cannot hurt you. Elite Slingers possess a blow horn though, giving them the ability to call in reinforcements whenever they detect an enemy. They are great targets for your Owl. Make these guys a high priority. Remember that alarms are just as dangerous and anyone can use them.
Spearman
Role: Melee/Range Hybrid
HP: High
Damage: High
Attack Frequency: Slow
Range: Melee/Medium
Movement Speed: Medium
Special: Charge with Spear
Elite Characteristics: Breakable Helmet
Izila Spearmen are fairly dangerous with high HP and damage, though their attacks are less frequent than others. They usually sit back and throw spears your way, but will charge in for a melee attack when given the chance. Elite Spearmen only differ in that they wear headgear that must be destroyed before you can get a headshot.
Warrior
Role: Melee Unit
HP: High
Damage: Medium
Attack Frequency: Fast
Range: Melee
Movement Speed: Fast
Special: Throw Shard
Elite Characteristics: Breakable Helmet, Ambush, Dodge
The Izila Warriors fight primarily at close range with their club, but they do throw a shard if you are not reachable. Their high HP makes them tough to pick off as they charge, so be ready to switch to your melee weapon. Elite Warriors are more advanced. Besides their breakable headgear, they attempt to ambush their target and dodge your attacks.

The Mesolithic Age was a period of great change. Humans were settling and forming tribes, language was becoming more advanced, and wars emerged between tribes. We wanted our tribes to reflect these changing times. The Udam reflect the past, the Wenja live in the present, at one with Nature, while the Izila consider themselves the future— a dark, unforgiving future. —Kevin Shortt, Lead Writer |
Roshani - Izila Commander
Roshani is a proud but paranoid Izila Commander. He leads an impressive Izila fortress that has never suffered any threats from rival tribes. Like many Izila, Roshani has prideful faith in the Izila’s place in the world. He’s led a sedentary life and has limited combat experience. He earned his command through charm and manipulation. He can easily talk his way out of troubles or into new opportunities.
Roshani has made enemies among the Izila over the years. He’s known as a man who puts himself before all else, including his own people. It’s a reputation that could catch up with him one day soon—and he knows it.
Batari - Izila Leader
Batari is the divine matriarch of the Izila tribe. Zealous, vindictive, and arrogant, she has ushered her people into a new age of agrarian prosperity with the harsh but benevolent hand of a spiritual leader. Batari has enjoyed the reverence of the Izila ever since she was born during a solar eclipse and deemed a descendant of the sun goddess, Suxli. The Izila people now venerate her as the “sun daughter,” a divine savior who will protect them from danger.
Like the Izila sun goddess, Batari presents herself as an icon of warmth, nourishment, and fertility. But beneath her warm exterior burns the heart of a prideful tyrant consumed by vanity and paranoia. She is obsessed with superiority—first over her fellow tribespeople, and second over the inhuman Wenja and Udam pests that populate other tribes.
Only one name haunts the Izila matriarch: Krati, the name of her beloved son. He betrayed Batari’s trust many years ago and sparked a revolt, forcing Batari to burn him alive for his crimes. She uses the myth of Krati the Destroyer to keep the Izila under her thumb, but deep down she fears her son will one day return to kill her.
