The Bone Cave

Prerequisite: Complete Vision of Ice and talk to Sayla

Main Objective: Search the bone cave for the missing Wenja hunter

Overview

Sayla wants your help finding a Wenja hunter who has been reported missing. Navigate the dangerous, dark caverns to bring him back home.

Strategy

Find a Tall Elk carcass at the last known location of the hunter and accept the mission. Use Hunter Vision to find footprints leading to the northwest into the cold climate of northern Oros. The trail ends up at Dantan’s Den; enter the dark cave.

Light your club and follow the footprints further inside to find Cave Lions roaming the interior. Keep your torch at the ready to keep them at bay, getting in attacks whenever possible. Once the threat has been dealt with, use Hunter Vision to find the Wenja hunter hiding in a small cubbyhole. Talk to him to heal him as he warns of more Tigers nearby. If you do not yet have enough healing plants, he tells you to find some. There are several bags containing plants in the cavern.

A group of felines, including a tough Sabretooth Tiger, must be dealt with before you can extract the Wenja from the den. Set them on fire, pelt them with arrows, or beat them down with your club or spear. Pay particular attention to the Sabretooth. If you can tame him, he is a great addition to your Beasts menu, though you do need the Tame Apex Predators skill before doing so. Clear out the beasts and return to the hunter to complete the mission.
