Oros is full of life, and a lot of it wants you dead. Animals want to kill you, enemy tribes want to kill you, and even the weather wants to kill you!
Snakes…I hate Snakes
Snakes are everywhere. Luckily for you, they like to warn you before they attack with a loud hissing sound. If you ignore or don’t hear the sound, you can still spot them with your Hunter Vision.
Using a rock thrown from your sling is the best option for killing snakes as it does not take any resources to replace the rock.
If a snake lands a bite on you, poison immediately starts to take hold, adding a green hue to your screen and draining your health. This effect can be stopped if you have the correct food on hand.
Day and Night
Day and night are like two completely different versions of Oros.
During the day, predatory animals are rarely found outside of their natural hunting areas. The main threat during the day is hunting parties of the two enemy tribes that inhabit Oros. Keep your eyes and ears open and you’ll make it through the day just fine.
The high visibility makes this a good time to travel longer distances to areas you haven’t been before, preventing you from falling off an unseen cliff.
The night is a dark and dangerous place. Visibility is low and more predators come out to hunt. Exploring at night can yield unique animals, plants, and collectible items.
To help you stay alive at night, light your weapons on fire. Fire scares off weaker predators and lights the way, allowing you to avoid any environmental dangers.
The Great White North
The northern area of Oros is covered in snow. In this area you need to stay warm to survive. A meter appears on the left side of the screen showing you how close you are to freezing. If this meter drains all the way, you take damage until you either find warmth or die.
Upgrading your Cold Gear in the Crafting Menu helps you stay warm longer.
Ultimately, the best way to stay warm is to light one of your weapons on fire and carry it with you into the cold. If you know you are going to come up on a fire soon, let the meter drain a bit and save your weapons from the durability loss.
