The Great Sea is a pretty big departure from the Adventure Map. It’s smaller for starters, but you must also contend with headwinds that prevent you from moving forward without using a Wind Waker Item Card, and Great Sea Rules, which add a rule to the levels that house them, and that will limit you in some way or boost the enemies on that stage. You’ll find all sorts of great Unlockables that make your trip here absolutely worth it, so without further delay, let’s get started!
Item Cards
There’s a whole slew of new Item Cards that fit the Wind Waker motif. Some help you grab Unlockables, some reveal enemies, while others unlock more of the Great Sea to you and erase some nasty rules that up the challenge of certain levels. Read on to get a description of each of the Item Cards you’ll find while conquering the Great Sea Map.

Challenges of the Great Sea
The Great Sea Map is full of all sorts of dangers one would expect to find in the Great Sea (and some that you wouldn’t).
Headwinds
While sailing the Great Sea, you’ll often run into headwinds: strong winds that prevent you from moving forward on the map unless you use a Wind Waker Item Card.
Great Sea Rules
Some of the stages in the Great Sea Map have special rules on them. No Item Attacks and Double Damage are good examples of what you’ll be up against when you reach Scenarios with rules. Great Sea Rules can make a battle a lot tougher than it would be without the rule, but there is an out: You can remove the rules with the use of Item Cards. Whenever you see a Big Octo, a warship, or a tornado on the map or in the Search Screen, it means that a Great Sea Rule is on that Scenario. If you remove any of those elements, the rule goes with it. Use a Boomerang on Big Octos, the Hero’s Bow on tornadoes, and the Cannon on warships to remove Great Sea Rules.
