OBJECTIVE

Meet with the Gran Kiltias at Mt Bur-Omisace

Mt Bur-Omisace is your ultimate destination. To reach this area, though, you must first complete several sub-tasks and pass through three different areas—the Mist-shrouded Golmore Jungle, the dank Henne Mines, and the frigid canyons of the Paramina Rift.

Find Eruyt Village

Knock out the pack of Panthers (weak against the Ice element) at the first intersection and go left, then take the first right down the stairs to find the Map Urn with a full map of Golmore Jungle. Follow the path east and defeat the creepy Malboros. After doing so, go south and proceed into The Needlebrake.

Watch Your Status

Magick abounds in Golmore Jungle; its denizens cast a lot of status effect spells. Your party will get hit with Slow, Blind, Petrify, and Sleep, so counter these effects with magicks and items. Esuna is a particularly valuable spell to own and license for this jungle trek, since it removes multiple status effects in one shot.

By now, you should have set up gambits that automatically apply the magick or items necessary to remove status effects. Some gambits are for specific status ailments such as “Ally: status = Sleep.” But if you lack a gambit specifically related to the status ailment you want to cure, just set the condition for “Ally: any.”

Your character will then use the associated action or item (such as Blindna, Prince's Kiss, Vox, etc.) only when an ally has the affliction that can be removed by the action or item.

Keep moving along the northernmost route, heading east until you reach a glowing blue magickal barrier that triggers an event. Fran explains that the jungle denies her passage, and opens a secret path to her home, Eruyt Village. When the scene ends, follow the new path to trigger a second event during which Fran tells Vaan to look for Mjrn in the village ahead, and then bring her out. You need Mjrn’s help to get past the barriers in the wood.

Before entering the village proper, check out the wares of Tetran, the traveling moogle merchant that you helped to escape from the Leviathan. If you don’t have Esuna yet, buy it and license it for any white mages or red battlemages in the party right away! Fira and Thundara are also great additions here. These powerful black magick spells are especially useful if you're going to take a break from the main adventure by using the teleport crystal to chase down some marks for clan hunts. By now if you're keeping up, you should be able to hunt Marilith, White Mousse, Ring Wyrm, and more. Stock up on status-removing items too; in particular, purchase a good supply of Handerkerchiefs for removing Oil status. (These will be important when you fight the Elder Wyrm.) You can also buy a cheap Eruyt Village map from his partner Lulucce and use the Save Crystal. When you’re ready, head east into Eruyt Village.
