Old Town

Versus

Old city streets by the shore make for an intense urban battlefield. The are two key power weapon spawns here: a Boomshot/Digger in the north, and the Torque Bow/Longshot in the south. Choose your flavor and make a concerted effort to secure one of them. The open streets are very dangerous places—move quickly from area to area, or have a teammate cover you while you move.

The center courtyard allows passage between the east and west without touching either of the power weapon hotspots. It also has a grenade spawn, but be aware that it’s possible to shoot over the low walls to both the north and the south. So, you aren’t safe from an enemy with a power weapon in the center.

Horde

Command Post South, Bell Tower

Similar in construction to the northern alley Command Post, this point is inferior largely because its outer wings to the east and west lack the natural defenses of the Scorcher walls. Thus, this point is more difficult to defend, and you can expect to be downed on the outskirts of your base. Inside, you have a turret and a decoy, with a single sentry just outside the base to the east. You can fall back to the inner base as necessary, but be ready to retreat completely if the area becomes overwhelmed.

Command Post North, Alley

This tiny Command Post area has just a single turret and sentry with a few walls. On the upside, this point is cheap to build up, is well defended, and boasts two excellent natural defensive positions just outside the alley, by the northwest and northeast Scorchers. Position a few players outside the alley to engage enemies as they advance. Then fall back to the alley when you’re pressed. Be ready to escape to the east or west if you are overwhelmed!

Command Post Center, Market

This area is one of the most difficult Command Post points on any map. It’s exposed to fire from all four sides, has little cover that you can use to counterattack safely, and has a lone sentry and turret for defensive protection. Don’t use this post unless you’re up for a very tough fight. Even with the Silverback, defending this area is hard!

Command Post Northwest, Roadblock Spawn

Three turrets, a decoy, a single sentry, and plenty of walls cover a wide area on the west of Old Town. While this area has plenty of firepower, getting the cash to upgrade it all and keep it repaired is difficult.

Begin by fortifying the area immediately around the northwest Scorcher. With a sentry, a decoy, and several barriers all in close proximity, you can start with a strong defense and then slowly expand to upgrade the turrets. The rearmost turret closest to the western spawn is the least essential of the three. But be wary of rear spawns if most of your attention is focused on the center of the map.

Command Post East, Seaside Spawn

In contrast to the roadblock spawn side, this Command Post has weak defenses. A single turret, sentry, and decoy provide limited firepower and distraction against the Locust horde. There are a fair number of barriers, but they mostly provide limited opposition to enemies pushing against the single turret. Be sure to put one player at the seaside spawn itself to prevent a back-spawn of enemies when the round begins.

Beast

Old Town is a relatively easy Beast map. Spend the early rounds building up cash with repeated Savage Drone use. Then follow up with a Mauler/Kantus combo. Finally, finish with repeated Kantus and Boomers until you unlock the Savage Digger.

Because many potential enemy base locations are easy to assault from a distance, you can safely take down the entire enemy force from range once you unlock the third tier. The alley and bell tower are both easy to flank by traveling through the market and approaching from the opposite side. You can also attack from across the walls to the center market if you have a ranged weapon or grenade.

Save your cash for the last round or two. You can wreck COG forces with a Berserker as long as you don’t overspend in the early rounds and play conservatively with good Kantus usage.
