Act 3

Watercolor Painting

Chapter 1: Unbreakable

Location: Either set of stairs eventually leads you to the front gate, but only the right-hand stairs lead to the Stranded living area where the next collectible is. Follow the right-hand path to the living quarters up the stairs on the right, and inspect the massive Watercolor Painting on the wall near the candle.

Sam’s Father’s Medals

Chapter 1: Unbreakable

Location: Continue along the upper-right walkway, past the Stranded living quarters, across the catwalk where the Vulcan is. Proceed straight into the wooden structure where the flaming barrel and ammo crates are. Pick up the stack of medals and death certificate in the corner before you advance to the front gate.

26 RTI HQ Pomeroy Barracks South Ephyra Sergeant Samuel K. Byrne, Connaught Platoon.

Dear Mrs. Byrne,

It is with the greatest regret that I have to inform you of the death of your husband during the defense of Anvil Gate Garrison at Anvegad, Kashkur.

Sgt. Byrne conducted himself with courage in the highest traditions of the regiment, and his actions enabled Coalition forces to hold the garrison, thereby preventing the UIR from invading Kashkur.

I hope it will comfort you at this difficult time to know that your husband is to be awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for gallantry.

Yours respectfully,

R J Le Marcha Lieutenant Colonel 26 RTI

Recovered Cog Tags #9

Chapter 2: Rescue

Location: The COG Tag is on the courtyard’s left side (as viewed with your back to the main gate). Note the Crimson Omen on the wall just beyond the gate, and look to the ground near a metal barrel lying on its side. This is near the corner of the yard, close to the large wooden crates.

Journal

Chapter 2: Rescue

Location: You have to take a moment to search for this collectible during the battle. Locate the large central structure in the yard, and run around it to the far side (from the starting point). Locate the small wooden alcove on its back side. The Journal is on the ground near the ammo crate.

5th day of Bloom

Well, the grubs are around again. It’s like they’ve got a schedule to keep to show they’re still in business. Last night we finished off a few that were dumb enough to try getting near the walls. Dizzy came back with the supply convoy today and said he’d seen a couple on Bloodmounts heading south, which didn’t bother anyone overmuch, but he also said they spotted Lambent stalks about seventy klicks from Mercy. Those things are creeping further inland all the time.

I can see why no army ever managed to capture the fort. The grubs can’t even dig their way in. Once you shut the gates, you get that feeling that you can hold off anything. The Colonel’s running the place like it’s still a garrison, but that’s kind of comforting. I mean, we’re still at war, and it’s a full-time job keeping everyone fed. Discipline’s a good thing.

Panicked Note

Chapter 4: Ghost Town

Location: Descend the stairs inside the building after you meet the crazy old man. Dom and Marcus discuss the view of the city of Char, where the Stranded there used to process their own fuel. More important is the Panicked Note collectible lying next to the Scorcher.

Chapter 4: Ghost Town

Location: You might spot the Crimson Omen beyond the deli counter. Hop over the counter and head out back to the alley where the dumpsters are. The COG Tag is on the ground behind the sandbags to the left.

Message

Chapter 5: Brothers to the End

Location: Climb the ladder to the balcony inside the town hall. Immediately turn left and proceed along the outer wall to the far left corner, past the benches, to where a Message has been left from the town’s administers. The poor souls didn’t have much time to act once the Imulsion sickness started to spread.

It is time that we acknowledge what we’re dealing with and determine a course of action. Whatever this sickness is, it is most certainly real, and spreading rapidly—at this rate, we’ll be looking at a full-scale epidemic in a matter of weeks.

I’d like to discuss our options for quarantining the sick and disposing of the dead. It is vital that we isolate all infected citizens for everyone’s safety, including their own.

Once that work is settled and the epidemic is contained, we may also consider conducting a town meeting to assuage the public’s concerns. My first suggestion would be the town square, but please feel free to propose any alternatives you may have in mind.

Air Raid Shelter Sign

Chapter 5: Brothers to the End

Location: Cut through the boards to enter the cave beneath the church, and drop down off the ledge. The path to the elevator goes right, but a collectible is back up the path to the left. Climb up the ledge and inspect the sign on the left.

AIR RAID SHELTER MERCY A37 MAXIMUM PERSONS 250

The following precautions are for your safety and well-being:

1. Do not leave this shelter until you hear the all-clear siren.2. Do not leave litter, especially food—it encourages flies and vermin.3. Keep the ventilators open for fresh air unless a chemical alert is in progress.4. Keep all bedding within the bay lines to allow unimpeded access.5. Remove all bedding from the shelter for airing.6. Do not smoke.7. Keep noise to a minimum—consider your neighbors.
