Lambent Leviathan

The Leviathan latches onto the side of the ship with its giant maw and is threatening to sink the CNV Sovereign. Open fire with the Silverback, concentrating on the Leviathan’s eyes and teeth to inflict greater damage. Continue firing at its face, particularly at its mouth, to force it to dislodge. The Leviathan continues to bite at the ship. Act fast, before the Leviathan gnaws too large a hole in the ship and sinks it.

Continue firing with the Silverback’s chain guns, periodically cooling them as the Leviathan writhes in pain. It finally releases its bite and dives underwater, but not before deploying an army of Polyps and Dark Drones onto the deck. Open fire with the guns as soon as the Lambent appear. Watch carefully for the scurrying Polyps. The best way to take them out is to stomp on them, crushing multiple Polyps with a single smash of the Silverback. Beware the Imulsion—try to avoid stepping into it!

Arcade Tips

Naturally, you have to focus on the Leviathan when it’s attacking the ship, but mix in the occasional melee stomp just in case any Polyps are in the area—Polyps continue to exit the Leviathan’s eye socket during the attack. Anya and Jace take out most of them, leaving Marcus and Dom to focus on the Leviathan, but some do reach the Silverbacks. You can earn thousands of points while the Leviathan is underwater by using rockets to take out the Dark Drones and by repeatedly melee stomping the Polyps. The Leviathan retreats underwater for a set amount of time after each critical hit, giving you the opportunity to kill as many Dark Drones and Polyps as you can (a maximum of three Dark Drones may appear simultaneously). Try to avoid firing all of your rockets unless you see a Dark Drone around, as the Silverback’s reload time is quite lengthy. Enemies continue to spawn as fast as you can kill them, so use this to your advantage to accumulate a higher score.

Hunker down and take cover. Use the Silverback’s rockets to take out the Dark Drones and Polyps that attack when the Leviathan is underwater. Allow the rockets to reload, and then press the A Button to disengage the cover system. Continue using the chain guns until the Leviathan attacks again.

CO-OP TACTIC

The battle gets a bit more intense with two players in Silverbacks, but the added firepower goes a long way. If you’re playing with three or four human players, remember that it’s up to the two players outside the Silverbacks to help keep them alive. Focus your fire on the Polyps and Dark Drones so the Silverbacks can focus on the Leviathan. Humans can take cover against the rear of a Silverback in cover mode. This protects the humans from gunfire, as well as the Imulsion burst that follows each Lambent death.

This pattern repeats two more times. Use the chain guns to repel the Leviathan from the side of the ship, and then fend off the Polyps and other Lambent. To maintain a full field of peripheral vision, avoid using the Aim Weapon button, and don’t hesitate to smash the Polyps underfoot. Keep moving to avoid detonating the other Lambent at close range, which can take you down. Monitor the Silverback’s health via the bar that appears on the bottom of the screen when the Silverback takes damage. Focus your fire on the Leviathan’s mouth during the second and third attacks to keep it at bay. Nudge it under the bridge for Baird and Cole’s attack.
