As you enter the city, you’ll be able to spot Sergei and his men to the right of the inn. Head up the stairs behind the fountain to see the Platinum Knights facing off against a hellion working under Cardinal Forton. The enemy escapes, but it’s now even clearer to the party that this Cardinal is bad news.

Head to the Knights’ Tower to continue the discussion with Sergei. On your way, don’t forget to pick up a new map from the Turtlez in the Eastern Quarter.

Within the tower, Sergei warns Sorey and Rose of the Cardinal’s watchful eye. The party learns that Sergei’s brother, Boris, was investigating the Cardinal and hasn’t returned. After the conversation, head to the inn to learn more about the Rolance Empire.

When Dezel takes off after Rose, head out and search the town to find them atop the battlements. It turns out Rose is investigating the missing Pope on her own for a Scattered Bones job. Sergei seemed to be convinced that the Pope was a good man and a just leader, but Rose and Sorey will have to draw their own conclusions.

Both Sorey and Rose have questions, and now that they have clearance to enter the Shrinechurch, it’s time to search for some answers.

The priest welcomes Sorey, and heads deeper into the church. Follow him into a hall containing a large raised tablet and a save point. The tablet describes the Trial of the Shepherd, but can only be deciphered by the pope—who is, conveniently, missing.

Just inside, a priest is quizzing a group of children. The party learns that the Shrinechurch is dedicated to Maotelus, who supposedly extends his blessing across the entire Glenwood continent.

Suddenly, a strong domain cuts Sorey off from the seraphim. It looks like the priest and the children have all been turned to stone. Head back to the Shrinechurch entrance for your first encounter with Cardinal Forton.

She asks Sorey to join forces with her, and tells Sorey and Rose that Pope Masedra actually fled and abandoned his people. Things look dire, but just as Cardinal Forton is about to attack, Mikleo manages to break through Forton’s domain and transport them all outside the Shrinechurch.

Pendrago, the Blessed Capital

Head back to speak with Sergei again at the Knights’ Tower. Rose splits off from the group as you enter to speak with Eguille. The party decides that finding Pope Masedra is still their top priority since they need him to relay the contents of the inscriptions in the Shrinechurch, and Rose returns with a potential tip regarding the Pope’s whereabouts. He may be hiding in the town of Gododdin. Since the Cardinal is also trying to find the Pope for her own purposes, Sorey and his friends will seek out Masedra quietly on their own, deeming a group of Platinum Knights to be too conspicuous.

Sergei gives Sorey two very important things at the close of the conversation: a new arte, and a pass that allows the group free travel within Rolance. Exit the Knights’ Tower and Sergei will teach Sorey how to wield the Lion’s Howl. Once you set and execute the arte, Sorey will successfully learn it. Afterward, Sergei will return to the tower with a Rolance Travel Pass, as well as information that a rockslide has barred the path to Gododdin. They’ll have to pass through Cambria Caverns instead. Before leaving the Knight's Tower, check out Heldalf's portrait againthere's a new skit waiting for you.

Save Point Travel is unavailable within the city, so once you’re ready to leave town, head to the front gates. You’ll have to use your new Spectral Cloak map action to pass through the gates unnoticed by the hellion guarding it. Return to the Meadow of Triumph and enter Cambria Caverns, the dungeon at the southwest corner of the map. If you’ve already activated all the save points in the Meadow of Triumph, fast-travel to the South Ridge save point to save yourself a few minutes.
