With all the Calix’s cleared, there is only one force of evil left on Hexen Isle: Dragon Zombie, who also happens to be one of the most powerful enemies in the game. In the center of the island you probably found the Discovery Point “Full Dragon Skeleton” - if you approach it now, you’ll discover that the skeleton is very much alive and ready to take you down. Luckily Dragon Zombie has no resistances, is weak to Non-Elemental artes, and has low Defense, making this fight Sorey’s and Rose’s time to shine. However, Dragon Zombie has many tricks up its sleeve, so don’t let your guard down. The main problem with Dragon Zombie is its longevity – with an HP of 200,000 and a ridiculously high Focus, Dragon Zombie can keep on fighting and laying down its artes for a long time. Since it’s an Undead hellion, it will gradually recover a portion of its health unless you can keep it afflicted with status effects. More than ever, keep an eye on your seraphim’s health and switch them out accordingly so they can heal outside of battle: you’ll need their support over the long term.
With its low defense and arsenal of hidden and seraphic artes, correctly timed uses of Non-Elemental martial and hidden artes will be the key to bringing Dragon Zombie down. Dragon Zombie’s hidden artes can knock you into the air and take down a chunk of your HP, but many of these attacks can be avoided by sticking to his side and guarding - almost all of its artes have slow, obvious animation charges, so watch out for them so you can guard or dodge out of the way. Luckily, with a healthy combination of martial and hidden Non-Elemental artes, the chance of Dragon Zombie being inflicted with stun or down is fairly high, so keep up the offense when he’s open to attacks.
You might be tempted to go all out when Dragon Zombie’s health is low, but this is actually when you should be the most cautious. As its health depletes, its more powerful artes awaken. Once its health is half gone, Dragon Zombie will start to use the hidden arte ‘Cursed Breath’ which can inflict Curse, a very nasty status effect - luckily, it takes a while for this arte to charge, so as soon as you see it trigger get behind or to the side of the dragon. At even lower health, Dragon Zombie will also use ‘Aura’, which releases powerful orbs of darkness that can cause massive damage and is likely inflict Paralysis. Dragon Zombie will also take a page from Jade’s book by using the seraphic arte ‘Meteor Storm’. For ‘Aura’, dodge out of the way or hang back when it triggers; for ‘Meteor Storm’, break it if you can, otherwise, run.
Defeating Dragon Zombie effectively purifies Hexen Isle and awards you Zaveid’s Alternative Outfit: ‘Wind Hunter: Alt. Color’, but also powers up Heldalf by nearly doubling his level and stats. But after clearing all the Calix’s and defeating Dragon Zombie, you should be more than ready for a more challenging fight.
After completing the main storyline for the first time, you are given the option to create a New Game + save file. To access the post-game content immediately, make a save file when prompted, andthen load the new save file. This will take you back to the final save point before you confront Heldalf at Artorius’ Throne. When playing with New Game + data, a new warp point will be available in front of the building where Heldalf is waiting. Warp to Hexen Isle to reach the final monolith, discovery point, Lord of the Land, and malevolent crucible.
Clearing all of the dungeons here, each of which holds a boss and valuable equipment, will allow you to progress through a side storyline involving some familiar Tales of characters. Doing so will unlock a very challenging boss battle. Defeating the boss on Hexen Isle will complete the side storyline and power up Heldalf, so if you decide to do so, be prepared to face a much more difficult final battle afterward.
