Tales of Zestiria eGuide Walkthrough Part 1: The Path of the Shepherd

Mt. Mabinogio Ruins

Ruin Exploration

Elysia, Home of the Seraphim

It’s a beautiful day in Elysia, and Sorey is on a mission to make some new discoveries! Head over to the star and check out the mural on the wall. Sorey identifies the bas relief as a depiction of a Shepherd using his copy of the Celestial Record. Mikleo arrives moments later, acknowledging that Sorey has won this portion of their continual competition. As the friends discuss their findings, ominous clouds fill the sky and lightning flashes. Mikleo takes off in the direction he came from and calls for Sorey to follow him.

You can:

Head back the way you came.

Lightning strikes in front of you, obliterating the path back to the vines. Try the other direction.

Follow Mikleo.

Suddenly, the ground below Mikleo collapses! Sorey attempts to pull Mikleo up to safety, but they both wind up tumbling down into the depths of the ruins.

Mikleo calmly manifests his weapon, a staff, and uses the Twin Flow arte to cushion their fall and ensure a safe landing.

ITEMS

Sage
Ancient Earrings
Apple Gel

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the menu options, and make sure to pick up the Sage that is growing to the left of the path that leads through the doorway. Activate the save point and save if you wish.

Open the door at the end of the corridor. Sorey and Mikleo catch sight of a human lying on the floor in a lower section of the ruins. Sorey can’t leave someone who is in need of help, so Mikleo agrees to offer what help he can, although he’s wary of getting involved with human outsiders.

Clear a couple cobwebs with your new map action and continue forward until you reach an exceptionally thick cobweb. Attempting to cut through it will draw the attention of your first enemy, a Spider in the Ruins.

This is a simple tutorial battle, so try different combinations of martial artes combos and continue attacking until you’ve subdued your enemy. You can also check out the battle menu and familiarize yourself with the options in it. Mikleo will back you up in battle with his own attacks and healing artes, and you can even switch your controlled character to Mikleo to try out some of the seraph’s moves.

After you’ve given the oversized spider a thorough beating, Mikleo realizes that it must be a hellion: a monster created by malevolence. As it flees, Sorey moves to follow it, but Mikleo stops him. The boys recall Gramps’ lecture about avoiding hellions at all costs since regular folks don’t stand a chance against them. Only the power of purification can work against hellions, a skill very few in the world can wield.

Now that the battle has ended, you can check your Enemy Book to see information about the Spider in the Ruins, or check your System Book for a refresher course on the new information you’ve learned.

The thick cobweb now looks normal, so cut through it and move forward. There’s a treasure chest to the right as you enter the next room that holds a pair of Ancient Earrings. Beyond the treasure chest stands a stone Monolith. Approaching it will trigger Sorey’s currently selected Support Talent, Point of Interest Detection (provided you didn’t change it), and Sorey will speak up about the find. Check it out to learn about martial artes and increase your AP.

As you move near the next doorway, a spider hellion drops from the ceiling. There is only one type of enemy in this area. You’ve already seen that these spiders don’t pose much of a threat, so you may as well get some practice in. The treasure chest at the far end of the room holds an Apple Gel, so grab that before proceeding through the doors and down the stairs.

The large room across from where the girl lies contains a save point, a treasure chest with an Apple Gel, and a monolith about guarding. Check out all three, and fight your way through two more encounters with spider hellions.

Just across the gap, you can see the girl! So close, yet so far. There’s nothing else to do down here for now, so continue forward up the stairs on the other side of the room. A hellion guards the small side room on the left that is blocked by a cobweb. If you choose to defeat it and open the treasure chest behind the cobweb, you will obtain an Ancient Circlet. Now is a good time to take stock of the new gear you’ve picked up and make sure you have the best items equipped. If the gear from the treasure chests has better skills than your currently equipped gear, swap it in.

The next room contains a chest marked with a star on the map.

You can:

Open the chest.

Sorey opens the chest to find a feathered glove. Mikleo snags it before Sorey can get too engrossed in his new discovery, promising to return it after they get back.

Move past the chest.

Mikleo grabs the treasure inside the chest stashes it away before Sorey can see it. He promises to tell Sorey what it was after they get back.

Head down the tiny path to the right of the chest to harvest Lavender from the herb gathering spot. Then, continue up the small staircase and check the monolith in the alcove to learn about Spirit Chain (SC). Loot the treasure chest next to it for a Life Bottle before heading to the star at the end of the walkway to survey the drop. Sorey and Mikleo decide jumping is not an option, and Sorey causes dust to crumble off of the ledge by standing too close to the edge. Head back downstairs to the large room with the save point.

Notice anything strange between your side and the girl’s side? Standing at the edge of the chasm, Mikleo figures out the secret.

What does Sorey figure out?

Yup, there’s a staircase there coming up from below!

This is incorrect, and Mikleo teases his friend with a sigh.

Who would have thought that you could walk in midair here?

Mikleo is grudgingly impressed that Sorey came to a similar conclusion.

Either way, Mikleo uses his artes to ice over the invisible bridge so that you can now see and access the path across the chasm.

Cross the bridge, but don’t go to the girl just yet. Instead, head to either of the side staircases leading down and check out the mysterious closed door at the bottom. There is also a save point that you can activate. Do so, and then head back up to see to the girl.

Sorey wakes the girl, and Mikleo checks to make sure she can’t see Seraphim, confirming that she’s human. Against Mikleo’s objections, Sorey invites her to rest at his home, even though she doesn’t offer up her name. Sorey states that he just can’t leave anyone who needs help, and that’s his decision, regardless of how much Gramps will scold them later. The girl will follow you, but she does not join your party.

Head through the doors behind the statue to reach the star. Mikleo warns Sorey to keep an eye on her, concerned with his overly-trusting nature. Climb the stairs and exit the ruins.

A skit becomes available based on the dialogue choice you just made:

An Incredible Bridge (Discovered by Mikleo)

This is the base skit about the bridge.

An Incredible Bridge (Discovered by Sorey)

This version of the skit ends with Mikleo teasing Sorey about his unusually sharp intuition that day.
