First, activate the save point to the right upon entering the Aqueduct. Then, head down the stairs to the star. A slime hellion appears to be eating a human, and Sorey warns Mikleo to stay back. Mikleo isn’t fond of being treated like he’s helpless, but this battle is just Sorey and Lailah.
The Slime Glutton has three Slime friends. Physical attacks don’t work very well on amorphous hellions, so if you’re having trouble try unleashing some hidden artes. Luckily, this Slime Glutton is weak against fire. Concentrate on creating openings for Lailah’s artes, or try switching control to play as Lailah yourself. For winning, you get an Anomalous Orb and a Copper Key (for copper treasure chests and certain special doors).
The worker regains consciousness and thanks Sorey for his help before returning to Ladylake on his own. Mikleo is angry that he’s not being allowed to fight, and Lailah explains that the only way for Mikleo to gain the power of purification is to form a contract with her and become a sub-lord. Sorey thinks Mikleo isn’t thinking about his own personal dreams, and is against the water seraph becoming a sub-lord. They’re both stubborn and refuse to budge, so Mikleo takes off, saying he’ll wait for Sorey back at the inn.
The stairs down into the water on the left don’t lead anywhere, so you can ignore that route unless you want to get an extra battle in (there’s a bat hellion in front of the waterfall). Head down the long staircase to the doorway marked with a star on the map and examine it. Sorey concludes that it was sealed by the royal family (to keep something hidden), not locked. Examine it again to notice a keyhole of sorts. Use the Royal Knife on it to open the door.
Now that the door is open, head left to examine the Monolith and learn about Difficulty Settings. Then, head around and slide down the water-covered ramp. In the corner is a Dark Turtlez selling some wares (Dark Turtlez Emporium). Purchase/upgrade equipment if you wish. Then, continue forward and grab the Life Bottle from the chest in front of the doorway. Swing left and collect Amber Paper from the chest at the end of the walkway before heading to the star on the map.
Follow Lailah up to the monument and speak to her again. She explains the significance of the altar and why it’s important for Sorey to discover certain things on his own through the progression of his journey as a Shepherd.
Lailah takes a jewel from the altar and hands it to Sorey. This gem is an Earthen Historia. It stores a memory within it, but strangely, Sorey says he cannot see anything when he looks at it.
Before leaving, take a moment to check the Discovery Point, “Altar of the Sacred Blade” (if you did this before talking to Lailah, go back up and you will be able to access a skit now that she is back in your party: The Sacred Blade Altar).
Head back, but hang a left instead of going through the door where you entered (you can’t get back up that water-covered ramp anyway). Approach and examine the door marked with the star. It’s sealed! Only one wielding the Silver Flame can open it, and in the past, hopeful Shepherds were stuck down there if they were not able to make a contract with the seraph bound to the Sacred Blade.
You now have access to the map action Silver Flame. Face the
torch pedestal to the right of the door and press
to light it and unlock the door.
Head through the open doorway and up the stairs. Take a right when a side path opens up. In front of two treasure chests is an enemy. Defeat the hellions and then collect two Apple Gels from the treasure chest and an Amber Tiara from the bronze treasure chest. Then, continue on the path.
As you round a corner, you’ll see a
group of slimes. Take the path to the left of them first, and collect the Soft-Serve Ice Cream from the treasure chest at the end. There is another enemy here. Once you’ve dispatched your foes, head back to the group of slimes and engage them.
You’re quickly surrounded by even more slimes. They’re not particularly tough, but make sure to maneuver around them so that you don’t get caught by a conga line of staggering attacks. Fight your way through them (they’ll keep spawning) until Lailah tells Sorey that now is the time to use a new power. She speaks her true name and tells Sorey to use it to trigger a new power. Follow the tutorial directions and press L1 to Armatize. Sorey gets a fiery new look and is able to wield the Sacred Blade while in this fused form. Demolish the slimes—they’re no match for the power you now wield.
The battle ends, but Sorey doesn’t know how to divest himself of the Armatization. Lailah comments on how weird Sorey’s fast adaptation to his Shepherd powers is, since he can already do amazing things like Armatize, but he can’t figure out how to take off the form or watch the Earthen Historia. She disengages the Armatization for him.
Head up the stairs and past the stairs to the right to examine a Monolith about Armatization. Then, backtrack and climb the next set of stairs. In the corner of the room at the top of the stairs is another Monolith, this one about Weaknesses and Resistances. In the opposite corner of the room is a bronze chest containing a Void Ring. Light the two torches to open the way forward. Head right (to the left is a door that you cannot open yet) and pick up the Sage next to the
ladder before letting the ladder down and descending. Turn left and ascend the stairs to reach the exit.
Sorey thinks that Mikleo probably went off by himself to investigate a nearby ruin. Lailah panics, thinking of the danger, but Sorey assures here that Mikleo wouldn’t put himself in unnecessary danger, and decides that first he needs to return Alisha’s royal knife and they’ll keep an eye out for Mikleo along the way. Mikleo ducks out of sight once they start moving; presumably he was listening to their conversation. The worker Sorey saved and a group of his coworkers all thank Sorey as you head back to the Central District.
Return the Royal Knife
Head to Alisha’s house in the Noble’s District. Lady/Knight Maltran is there speaking with Alisha, and Lailah is a little unnerved that Maltran seems to be able to see her. Follow Alisha to the terrace to continue speaking with her. Sorey returns the Royal Knife to Alisha. Alisha can now hear Lailah when she’s inside Sorey and they’re holding hands due to the increase in his powers. Lailah tells them about how humans and seraphs would work together to bless lands and keep the malevolence at bay, but now there is no seraph to bless the area. Sorey and Alisha’s next tasks are to find a seraph to bless the area, something pure to enshrine for the blessing, and humans to support the seraph with their prayers and devotion. Alisha has an idea of who the human should be; a priest named Breunor. The two set off, and Lailah secretly leaves a letter on the table in Alisha’s terrace.
Head to the sanctuary to catch up with Alisha and speak to her. It seems Father Breunor is out somewhere in the town. She also tells Sorey and Lailah about a water source in the Galahad Ruins that is said to be incredibly pure and is probably free of malevolence—except that lately that area has been unsafe because of beast attacks, probably hellions. Alisha asks to join them, and agrees to join as Sorey’s Squire. Lailah guides them in the process, and Sorey gives Alisha a true name in the ancient tongue. They set off together, and Lailah once again leaves a letter behind. As she does, you get a glimpse of Mikleo watching them through a sanctuary window.
