Now that you’ve made it across the river, activate the save point (Eastern Shore of Griflet Bridge). Head left for the fastest route to Marlind. Along the way, pick up the Apple Gel from the chest as the path bends right, and check the little shrine on the left after the bend for the “Roadside Guardian” Discovery Point and the skit The Roadside Shrine. Avoid the boss hellion for now (the large bird hellion with the dark malevolence surrounding it), it won’t chase you. Go around it into the little side area it’s protecting to check out the Monolith there, though. Then, head through the first set of city gates along the left side of the main path and enter Marlind.

Within the city, it’s clear to the party that the town is in bad shape. The plague is now hellionized, spreading as the gathered malevolence takes hellion form and enters the townspeople and the local dogs. Dispatch the two Hound Dogs that attack as you enter, and then explore the dark town and begin the cleansing process.

Before moving into the town proper, look behind you to see the ominous head of a Hell Hound hovering in the air just off the path. Burn away this malevolent effigy with a flash of Silver Flame.

Head to the Wontiga Inn, the first building on the right, and activate the save point within. Stay at the inn to trigger a skit about Fusion, in which Edna will learn how to use the Fusion support skill from Lailah.

Outside the weaponsmith is a Monolith extolling the virtues of Fusion, entitled “When the Going Gets Tough”. Take stock of your equipment and make any purchases or fuse your gear as needed.

Activate the Save Point (Near Southern Entrance) on the path, and take a right toward the Southern Entrance to burn away another Hell Hound head.

Head back and continue past the Save Point, but stop to climb the stairs on your right and buy a new map (Adventure Map: Town of the Woods) from the Turtlez on the balcony.

The clearing at the end of the path contains another floating Hell Hound head, so take care of that before following the path left and heading to the Sanctuary. Inside the Sanctuary, Alisha and Sorey hand over the Plague Medicine they brought, and the situation seems grave. Leave the Sanctuary to see the dark form of a dragon-shaped hellion against the cloudy sky. It lands in the clearing by the Great Tree.

Head over to the star on the map. It seems that the Drake is feeding off of the city’s malevolence. It catches sight of the party, and the group takes shelter in the Sanctuary. They form a plan of attack: first, weaken it by purifying the town’s malevolence, and then find a way to bring it down from the sky.

Head back to the star near the center of town to speak with Agatha, the librarian. She’s acting awfully suspicious. Follow her to the graveyard near the Sanctuary to stop her from selling the town’s precious books and set things right, earning the key to the library.

You’ve already taken out three of the floating Hell Hounds, so move on to the remaining two. One hangs in the air at the northern part of the clearing around the Great Tree. The last hovers near the Dumnonia Museum. Once you’re done purifying them with Silver Flame, activate the save point in front of the museum and head in.
