Manaea was the original capital of Medici, back when the island’s name was first formally established by Roman-Hunnic occupants, following the Barbarian Invasions of the fifth century. This cliff-side gem sports some of Medici’s best views; its downtown area, which winds through a bustling residential apartment district, was recently renovated and offers plenty of places to kick back and relax.
Tip: Alessia’s Home Town
This is the first town you must liberate in the game to progress the story. It’s also the town where Alessia grew up. Since you likely won’t have access to an attack helicopter this early (unless you hijack one in the air during a high heat level), you’ll have to take down the statue in the middle of town with explosives or a rocket launcher; bullets will not bring it down. A well-placed tether will also do the trick. Attach the tether at the top of the head and then across to a nearby building. Retract and drop the statue.
If this is your first town liberation, you should know that it takes only a few bullets to destroy a speaker. Aim and shoot at the box atop the speaker pole to remove the cover, and then shoot the innards to destroy the speaker. Once again, it requires just a couple bullets to do this.
Tip: Police Stations
Police stations are their own little project within towns that have them. There’s always a process: destroy the military assets inside while defeating the constantly reinforced militia, hack gates to call in Rebels, raise the Havoc Meter, and free prisoners from cells when necessary.
You can safely open police gates
and
to let in Rebels by tethering the doors open (attach a tether to the door and the frame above the door and retract), instead of hacking the gate controls where sometimes the militia are heavily concentrated. Do this safely from atop a nearby structure.
Raise the Havoc Meter to 100% to complete the police station challenge. Defeating militia; destroying all military assets, walls, and other destructible; and exploding objects (such as fuel barrels and vehicles) raises the Havoc Meter. The last objective in a town or village is always to raise the flag. The flag is located near the statue. Raise it and liberate the town.
