Description: Ruliel and his group of vagabonds are in a bind: They and others living in the area are disappearing one by one and Ruliel is convinced either the ruins of the Corgrad Wastes are to blame or a local landowner by the name of Faidur is trying to scare them off. Either way, investigate the ruins and see if you can locate those who have disappeared—or at least find the source of the disappearances.
Head to the Ruins of Corgrad
After speaking with Ruliel, turn around and talk to Faidur about what he knows. You’ll have the opportunity to intimidate him while talking, which will give you a good idea of whether or not he’s innocent.
After speaking with Faidur, go northeast to enter the ruins of Corgrad. You’ll have to find a way into the interior of the ruins, which can require a bit of investigating. There are seemingly several access points, but only one of them will work: a broken window on the south side of the building in the center of the ruins.
Once inside the ruins, speak with Faidur.
Corgrad Wastes
Inspect the broken statue in the room’s northwest corner, then speak with Faidur again. Exit the room. Head through the door on the room’s east side and read Rultari’s Journal, which is sitting on the withered cupboard. Speak with Faidur about the journal, then go through the next eastern door and read the letter sitting on the ground.
Head downstairs and speak with Faidur about the letter. He says he heard something in the tunnels ahead. Go and investigate on his behalf. When you arrive at the marked location, read Karnhar’s Journal, which is sitting on the ground next to the fire, then speak to Faidur about its contents. Continue through the tunnels and into the vast opening ahead. You’ll find enemies from here on, so take care.
Search the Caverns
Investigate the area and you’ll find a group of cavern dwellers on the room’s east side. Speak with them and they’ll give you a clue to the location of those who went missing from the surface. You can head to the room’s northeast corner and continue your investigation, or you can delay that and speak with both Faidur and Arillas to gain more perspective on the Corgrad Wastes.
Once you’ve traversed the northeastern passage, head to the center of the room and read the letter sitting on the ground. As soon as you do, cavern dwellers ambush you. This seems like a good time to check on Faidur.
The place has been abandoned, but you see some of the cavern dwellers going into a passage on the room’s southeast corner. Follow them.
Find Faidur
Fight your way through the next few rooms until you reach a man named Henrigg tied to a column. Speak with Henrigg to learn about a set of keys in the room south of him. Retrieve those keys and return to Henrigg. Free both Henrigg and the other prisoner in the room, Mindoril, from their shackles. Once you free the prisoners, go through the door on the room’s west side.
Save Faidur
Speak with Nemfarion, who is lying on the table to the left. Afterward, you can either destroy the Embalming Stone or speak with all the others lying on the tables to learn more about the history of the Corgrad Wastes and the Saviors. After destroying the stone, speak with Faidur, then escort everyone out through the western door.
Once you defeat him, the coast will be clear all the way to the surface. Pass through the window to see the sky once more. Head back to Ruliel and explain what you saw. Afterward, speak with Faidur to wrap up the quest. You’ll earn a Corgrad Heirloom Belt as a thanks for all your help.
