A Duelist’s Dilemma

  • Location: Near Alinor’s west gate
  • Quest-giver: Roguzog

Description: Roguzog is having a dispute with one of the locals and wishes to challenge him to a duel. Only problem is, Summerset is notorious for having rituals and rules in abundance. Roguzog can’t issue a lawful, formal challenge until he learns the proper customs. That’s where you come in. Figure out how Roguzog can legally initiate a duel with his transgressor and report back to him.

Talk to Lirendel

Head to the Golden Gryphon near Alinor’s north gate; you’ll find Lirendel on the third floor. Grab the Altmer Cultural Guide off the table in front of Lirendel before leaving. Head back and speak with Roguzog.

Collect an Altmer Dueling Foil

You’ll need to collect an Altmer Dueling Foil for the dueling ritual. Speak to Nahdahni the Khajiit and either pay her for the dueling foil, or break into her house and steal it from the second floor. If you choose the latter option, watch out for the residents living in the house. If they see you, you’ll accrue bounty.

Learn Lirendel’s Full Name

In order to challenge Lirendel officially, you’ll need to track down his full, legitimate name. In order to find it, enter the Tor-Hame-Khard Delve.

Tor-Hame-Khard

Once in Tor-Hame-Khard, read the plaque at Lirendel’s Family Shrine in the center of the delve to find his full name.

Talk to Fandilol

Return to Alinor and track down Fandilol inside the Golden Gryphon. He’s sitting with Lirendel on the tavern’s third floor.

Meet Roguzog on the Western Beach

Once you’re done, exit the tavern and head to the beach west of Alinor. Roguzog is waiting for you there. Give him his dueling foil and let him know about your progress thus far.

After speaking with Roguzog, talk with Fandilol to officially issue the duel. Fandilol will demand that you speak Lirendel’s name formally. In case you forgot, Lirendel’s family name is Lirendel Rumilion ’lenInecil Culanarin Soloinwe ’ata Piraden-Itelnoril Hilnore Firlamil ’cal Ternerben-Nibulirel (or the second answer, first answer, second answer, respectively). Now witness the duel. You’ll be rewarded with a Polished Elf-Poker (an orc-made one-handed sword) for completing the quest.
