STAG’s Show of Force
Viola’s tip about the freighter filled with hos turned out to be very valuable information. She wants to meet and Oleg is invited to the gathering. He is not happy about meeting with the someone involved in harvesting his DNA to make Brute clones, but he reluctantly goes as backup.
The meeting goes down in a public park amid the strumming of a guitar. Oleg agrees to play nice with his former captor just as armored STAG vehicles ransack the park and ambush the group. The trio are forced to take shelter in a nearby building that quickly fills with STAG soldiers.
It’s possible to run to directly to the blue marker and avoid all combat in this room.
However, If you want to get familiar with the new enemy, go backstage in the long narrow corridor to keep the action confined. The STAG soldiers are armed with riot shields as well as the latest high-tech weapon, a Viper Laser Rifle. Grab one of their shields and guns to give them a taste of their own medicine. Escape the ambush as your group barely makes it out alive and races to the roof.
The Roof Is Under Fire
The roof might provide a short reprieve but a cinematic shows that STAG brought along a massive carrier with high-tech aircraft that you must contend with. The goal on the roof is simply to survive the onslaught of STAG while Viola fixes the power to the elevator.
Aircraft drop off a few soldiers that shouldn’t be a problem for you and Oleg. If you have enough rockets for the RPG, blow the thing out of the sky. The more pressing threat probably comes from the STAG enemies off in the distance on the rooftops. If you have ammo for the sniper rifle, this is a great time to use it! Zoom in quickly and erase the enemies on the rooftops.
Continue wiping out the enemies in the distance until you hear Oleg or Viola warn you about more incoming enemies. Grab a human shield if you take too much damage and clear off the roof before continuing to remove any of the enemies at long range.
If that wasn’t enough of a show of force, STAG sends F-69 VTOL fighter jets to bump you off. Those planes have a nasty laser weapon that will rip you to shreds. Get some cover behind the large air ventilation systems and plug away at the airship for as long as you can. When it flies toward you, sprint to the opposite side and seek shelter. This would a very good time to break out the RPG and end the battle quickly. If you are out of rockets, stick with your own laser rifle and make sure it doesn’t overheat.
Escape the Ambush
As the F-69 VTOLs continue the assault, revive Oleg if he goes down. The big man will eventually have enough of this fight and he creates a distraction by leaping onto one of the jets. Viola has finally fixed the elevator and it’s about dang time. Ride the elevator back down to the club and waste the STAG soldiers hanging around.
Make a break from the club and jump into the cop car to race back to the Saints’ HQ. The ride is not very long but it can be difficult. Drive fast but don’t get reckless because the police car can’t take too much damage. STAG will set up blockades as well as swerve into you head-on.
If the cop car does get destroyed or if you are just gutsy enough you can try to steal a STAG vehicle and take it back to your hideout. It’s pretty tough to get into the N-Forcer without getting killed, but if you make it, the truck is a lot more durable than the cop car.
The people of Steelport want answers from the obvious military take over. Nobody has declared martial law but it sure looks and feels like it. STAG’s commander, Cyrus Temple, use typical fear tactics to get the people of Steelport on his side.
