Cribs and Stronghold

Cribs

A crib is your base of operation where you can access any of your inventory and gang customization. Most of the cribs are won by completing Campaign missions. There are two optional cribs that can be purchased at the docks and airport. All of your cribs, except the two that are bought, are linked and share the same inventory.

Wardrobe

The wardrobe function allows you to customize your clothes and accessories from anything you own for your head, lower body, shoes, under garments, wrists, hands, etc. Complete themed outfits can also be equipped, and you can even save your own custom get up as a suit that can be loaded at any time.

Garage

Using the garage option brings up a list of all the vehicles you own. Any vehicle can be retrieved and repaired even if it is destroyed on the road. Your garage can also act like a Rim Jobs mechanic shop, allowing you to customize your vehicles at your crib.

Heliport

Similar in function to the garage, you will be able to access any of your aircraft, such as helicopters and planes.

Weapons Cache

This is the spot to check your tools of the trade. You can look at any weapons you own and display their current level. While weapons can be switched on the fly through the Weapons Pallet during gameplay, the weapons cache is the only spot where you can assign specific weapons to each of the six available categories. Accessing this cache also refills some of your ammo.

Gang Customization

Gang Customization allows you to select various options for your gang and their vehicles. Each gang slot can be customized to select the style and sign for each member. New styles are unlocked by completing the Campaign and all instances of certain Activities. Vehicle slots can also be customized, with additional options becoming available after taking over each Stronghold.

Strongholds

Strongholds are a special type of crib but they also represent singularly important buildings within each district of Steelport. They include the Morningstar’s mega brothel Safeword, the Deckers’ Nuclear Power Plant, and the Luchadores’ 3 Count Casino. They are the core businesses powering the Syndicate gangs, and all three must be taken over through intense Campaign missions.

Owning each of these key Strongholds rewards you with a 5% respect bonus, an increase in bank transfer limit, and a 5% hourly cash boost in the entire district. In addition, each gang Stronghold that you take over grants you access to that gang’s vehicles in your garage and their followers in Gang Customization.

Upgrading Strongholds

Strongholds have access to the same features as a crib, along with one new one: Stronghold Customization. This option allows two upgrades to the Stronghold that provide an addition 5% district cash per hour and 5% respect bonus for each tier (15% max), as well increased transfer limit and weapon cache ammo.

The cost for these two levels of upgrades can be rather high, but it is a good investment for later in the game. In addition to the perks for each upgrade, the building itself will be expanded at the final level, thus improving its appearance and leaving your mark on Steelport’s landscape.
