Evolve Official Strategy Guide Monsters Kraken

Fighting as the Kraken

The Kraken is a high-flying Monster dealing death from above. Staying in the air and on high ground is the key to being a successful Kraken. Although the Kraken has a decent amount of armor, it is recommended to maintain distance from the Hunters.

When in the air, the Kraken’s melee attack changes to a ranged attack. Use this to your advantage, as the Kraken is currently the only Monster to offer a ranged basic attack. The ranged attack deals a small amount of AOE damage, so don’t be afraid to spam the attack even if you don’t have a direct shot.

Assault

The Kraken is the worst enemy of the Assault class. Since most Assault characters are only effective at close range, the Kraken can gain altitude and distance, and then continue to attack and call down abilities with relative ease. When up against Markov’s Arc Mines, use the basic ranged attack from the air to destroy them. If you’re getting pulled out of the sky into close range, use a quick Vortex just before landing to push the Assault Hunters away and keep your ranged advantage.

Medic

From the sky, it is usually easy to spot the Medics (with the exception of Lazarus). To help prevent Lazarus from reviving his dead teammates, throw some Banshee Mines at the dead Hunters. If a Hunter is only incapacitated, the Banshee Mines will track to that Hunter. Try to avoid hits from Lazarus or Val’s rifles: once they land a few hits, the rest of the Hunters’ attacks become much more effective, even at longer ranges.

Val’s Tranquilizer Gun will slowly bring the Kraken out of the sky. Either focus on eliminating her early in the fight, or deal damage to other Hunters to force her to focus on healing teammates.

If a Medic is doing a good job at evading your attacks, get in close, and send them away with a Vortex attack. Once they are separated, you can either continue attacking them and pushing them farther, or turn back and continue your attack on the team of Hunters.

Support

Support Hunters all have weapons that can deal damage at decent ranges, making them one of the Kraken’s greatest threats. Get some strikes in early, and keep them separated from the other Hunters to prevent them from effectively using the Cloaking Field. When struggling to find the Support class, just watch for other Hunters going in and out of cloak to pinpoint their location. Don’t become stagnant when calling in abilities; keep moving to become a harder target for Support Hunters to hit.

When facing Cabot, focus on taking him down as soon as possible. It is impossible to hide from the Rail Cannon, even behind other objects.

Trapper

The Trapper is the priority target for the Kraken. The dome takes away one of the main advantages of the Monster, forcing the Kraken to move toward the center of the dome to gain its height advantage. You should immediately focus on eliminating the Trapper by cycling through the Kraken’s abilities and using your ranged melee attack. Watch out for Harpoon Traps, Stasis Grenades, and Griffin’s Harpoon Gun. When the Harpoon Gun hits you, immediately focus on breaking the chain so you don’t get pulled out of the sky.
