Hyde

“Fire’s all the plan I need. Works every time.” —Hyde

Sadistic. Sociopathic. Deeply disturbed. These are but a few of the compliments Hyde has received from those who’ve seen his handiwork. What bothers Hyde most about this job isn’t the sheer amount of death and destruction the Monster has caused—it’s that even with his Minigun, Toxic Grenades, and Flamethrower, it makes Hyde only the second most frightening thing on the planet.

Hyde can deal out some serious hurt on the Monster

with his selection of weapons. The Flamethrower has the highest damage output among the Hunters, but its range is very short. Therefore, it is necessary to get up close in the Monster’s grill as you set it on fire. Toxic Grenades grant the ability to flush your target out from an advantageous position, while the Minigun rips through your foe from a longer distance.

“Oi, Bucket. I don’t tell you how to robot, you don’t tell me how to burn things.”— Hyde

Flamethrower

Mastery Reward: Increased Range

Damage per Second: 170 plus Residual Burn Damage

Maximum range: 15 Meters

Max fire duration: 10 Seconds

The Flamethrower is an incendiary device that deals a lot of damage at close range. Press the Primary button to equip the weapon, and squeeze the Fire button to spray fire onto your foes. The weapon can be reloaded any time there is a lull in the action.

Enemies hit with the flame continue to burn and take damage for some time. This weapon is great for spraying across several enemies simultaneously, such as packs of wildlife. Be sure to hit the Monster early and often with it to keep it burning.

The range of the Flamethrower is its weakness. Hyde must get in close to do damage with it. Backpedal as you spray an approaching foe to remain out of reach.

Once the Monster is out of the Flamethrower’s range, switch to the Minigun or Toxic Grenades to keep the hurt on your foe. Whenever you are close to your target, pull this weapon out to maximize the fire damage.

Use the Flamethrower to help out an ally in trouble. If you spot a teammate struggling against the Monster, immediately spray the foe. More than likely, this onslaught gets the foe’s attention and forces it to retreat.

You can also use the Flamethrower to reveal the Wraith’s location. Sweep the flame in the area you believe she hides, and the Monster gets set aflame. This makes her more visible for the entire team, where she is at her worst.

Minigun

Mastery Reward: Increased Accuracy

Damage per Bullet: 21

Fire Rate: 400 Rounds per Minute

Ammo Capacity: 80 rounds

The mid-range Minigun has a very high rate of fire, allowing it to chew through just about anything. Press the Secondary button to equip the gun, and squeeze the Fire button to shoot. Press the Reload button to top off the ammo when necessary.

“Oh. But I like melting faces.”— Hyde

The damage that the Minigun deals is much lower than the Flamethrower, but it possesses a longer range. Use this gun while you get close enough to use the more powerful weapon, or employ it as the Monster moves away.

Exploit weak spots created by Val or Lazarus to deal out even more damage. Grab the Poison Damage Buff to make this firearm even more deadly.

Toxic Grenade

Mastery Reward: Increased Damage

Damage: 90 per Second

Duration: 7 Seconds

Effective Radius: 10 Meters

The Toxic Grenade leaves a damaging gas cloud after detonation. Press the Equipment button to equip the grenade. The Fire button tosses it toward your reticle. Hold the Fire button down to get an arc for more precise aiming. After using one grenade, a number on the side of the device counts up to 100 to easily indicate when another is ready.

You can use this explosive to simply damage the Monster, but it is ideal at flushing it out from an advantageous position. Is the Goliath pummeling teammates in a corner? Toss the Toxic Grenade in to make him retreat. The Kraken causing havoc from a cliff above? Use this explosive to move him to a better position for your team.

Be careful, as the explosives cloud slows down your group as they pass through. Don’t try to hit a fleeing Monster with one, or you will likely lose the beast quicker than normal. Instead, pull out the Minigun, and deplete more of the Monster’s health as it moves away.

“C’mon, just one little shot of liquid courage.” — Hyde

Fighting the Monster

Hyde must foremost put the hurt on the Monster once it is found. Before finding the target, Hyde can still be extremely useful. The Flamethrower is great against hostile packs of wildlife. Spray the fire out ahead of the group to take care of the weaker creatures.

Hyde’s Flamethrower is extra useful against the Wraith, as it can reveal the stealthy foe if she decides to hide nearby. The flame is also very effective against a Goliath. Keep the fire going by using this weapon early and often.

Hyde’s Toxic Grenades are extremely valuable when a Monster holds an beneficial position. Toss one into tight spaces or onto high cliffs to flush the beast out. Be careful, though: as the Monster attempts to flee, the grenade also slows your group down.

Hyde has the shortest range of the Assault Hunters, so it is important to get up close and personal with the Monster. Deploy the Personal Shield wisely, and use the full canister of fuel on the enemy. Switch to another weapon when the Flamethrower is unavailable, but immediately pull it back out to deal the most damage possible.
