“It doesn’t know fear…but it does know pain.” — Maggie
A quiet woman with a past shrouded in mystery, Maggie is a loner. For years, her only companion was Daisy, her faithful pet Trapjaw. Besides the very important Mobile Arena, Maggie comes equipped with a variety of toys. She deals decent damage with the Machine Pistol, while her Harpoon Traps stop the beast in its tracks. The Trapper’s pet Trapjaw, Daisy, uses her amazing sniffing ability to lead the group straight to the Monster.
“Factor was a rough colony. Violent. Once I had Ruva here, NO ONE wanted to mess with ME.” — Maggie
Machine Pistol
Mastery Reward: Increased Damage
Damage per Bullet: 20
Fire Rate: 615 Rounds per Minute
Ammo Capacity: 60
The Machine Pistol is a powerful automatic weapon with poor accuracy. Press the Primary button to equip the gun, and then use the Fire button to discharge the bullets into your enemy. Use the Reload button at any time to top off the ammo.
The longer you hold the trigger down on the Machine Pistol, the wilder it gets. Instead, fire the weapon in bursts to keep the bullets close to your reticle.
Despite its shortcomings in accuracy, the gun packs a powerful punch. Aim for weak spots in the Monster’s armor that Val or Lazarus has provided. Your first priority in combat should be to lay the Harpoon Traps, but once they are down, pull this guy out and make your enemy bleed.
Harpoon Traps
Mastery Reward: Increased Range
Trigger Radius: 18 Meters
Maximum Toss Distance:10 Meters
Ammo Capacity: 1
Placed Harpoon Traps ensnare the Monster, holding it in place until the beast can swipe at it with a melee attack. Press the Secondary button to equip the device, and then squeeze the Fire button to place a trap on the ground in front of you. If the reticle is red, it cannot be placed at that location. Once it is blue, you can fire it into the surface. Note that it does take a few moments for it to set itself. You are limited to five at a time, which is indicated by the blue dashes along the bottom of your reticle.
Harpoon Traps are a great asset during all stages of Evolve. Place them along paths or at choke points to slow the Monster down. Hide them in the brush or next to walls so they go undetected until they are activated.
The Monster can destroy one before the trap is armed, so it’s best to place them before engaging your opponent. The giant’s smell ability can detect Harpoon Traps, and attacks like Goliath’s Fire Breath can easily take them out.
Against the high-flying Kraken, lay traps on the cliff edges above to bring him down to a manageable height. Since you are limited to five at a time, spread them around the battlefield wisely.
Lure the Monster into well-hidden Harpoon Traps, and have the team open fire on the stationary beast. Traps placed in the middle of the battlefield give the Hunters a spot they can retreat to. Call them out to your team so they know they have the option.
Pet Trapjaw
Mastery Reward: Increased Health for Daisy
Health: 1450
Smell Range: 100 Meters
Sprint Speed: 11 Meters per Second
Maggie’s pet Trapjaw, Daisy, sniffs out the Monster and its tracks. The only thing you need to do to use her is to pay attention. Follow directly behind Daisy as she leads you to your target more quickly. Keep an eye on her icon, as the paw turns red when close and an exclamation point appears when she has found it. Daisy points at the Monster when it is nearby.
Stay close to your companion, or she will stop and wait. The less she stops, the quicker the team finds what they are looking for. You don’t want to stray too far from her, but many times, you must leave her side to cut the Monster off. This is a good time to split up, as one pair stays with Daisy and the others attempt to anticipate the target’s next move.
You may need to lead Daisy around if she loses the scent and stops tracking the Monster. It shouldn’t take too long for her to get back on the scent, as she is great at her job.
Once you have found the Monster and deployed the Mobile Arena, plant the Harpoon Traps, and then pull out your Machine Pistol. During combat, Daisy’s job isn’t done: she will run around to downed Hunters and attempt to revive them.
Team up with Caira, and take full advantage of her Adrenaline Field. With her running alongside Daisy, the team can reach their target in no time.
Just like your other teammates, Daisy is worth protecting from the Monster. She is extremely efficient at picking up your allies, so have her back if she gets into trouble. Many times, though, she will be the Monster’s final target. The game isn’t over until all five of you have perished.
Daisy can detect a sneaking Monster, which she indicates by sniffing the ground. Rely on her to lead you to the stealthy beast.
“It took a long time for us to reach the evacuation ship. Longer to figure out how to turn it on.” — Maggie
