Hunter Objective: Take down the Monster, or Last until the Timer Reaches Zero
Monster Objective: Kill All Hunters at Once, or Destroy Power Relay
A Stage 1 Monster has been spotted, and four Hunters have been called in to take care of it. The Hunters must track down the beast as quickly as they can while the Monster flees through the environment. The Monster gets a 30-second head start on the Hunters.
While the Monster feasts on the local wildlife, the Trapper uses his or her unique ability to track down the big foe. Along with cues from the environment, the four-person group works hard and fast to reach the Monster before it becomes even more powerful.
As the Monster devours the wildlife, it is powering up as it evolves to Stage 2 and then to its ultimate form, Stage 3. At this point, the fiend gains the upper hand, with the choice of either eliminating the Hunters or destroying the now-vulnerable Power Relay. As the Monster, step up to the Power Relay, and hold the Melee button to rip it apart. This is extremely time-consuming, and more than likely, the Hunters will interrupt.
Once the Monster hits Stage 3, it must make a play at the Power Relay or the Hunters. After awhile, a timer counts down from three minutes. The Monster must destroy the Power Relay before it reaches zero, or the Hunters win the round. The timer is paused when there is a lull in the fight.
Hunter Strategy
Finding the Monster as quickly as possible is the key to victory for the Hunters, though it is not impossible to take it down at Stage 3. Use all of the environment cues, as well as your Trapper, to track it down. Monster tracks, broken branches, animal corpses, and scattered birds are all useful in finding the objective.
Becoming familiar with the maps is key to cutting the adversary off. Once you find the Monster, communication and teamwork are necessary to defeat the giant. Each Hunter must play their specific role; one mistake can be the difference in the game.
Monsters are only able to regenerate armor, so any health loss stays with it for the entire game. Eat away at its HP any chance you get. Every shot may be the difference the next time you meet.
Monster Strategy
As soon as the match starts, flee the area as the Hunters drop nearby. Quickly feed on any wildlife you encounter. At Stage 1, the Monster is an easier kill for the pursuers. Reach Stage 2, and the two sides tend to even out. Fully evolving to Stage 3 greatly increases your chances for survival.
At Stage 3, make a choice whether to go after the Power Relay or take your improved power against the Hunters. The three Monsters have their own unique abilities, and learning the ins and outs of each goes a long way when facing a well-organized Hunter team.
As Hunters are taken down and revived, a strike is given that reduces their maximum health by 25%. Bleed out or get a third strike, and the player must wait for the next dropship. Use these strikes and missing Hunters to your advantage.
