High Rollers is a unique minigame mode in which up to four players roll giant cubes around several score tiles that float high in the sky. But before anyone can roll those big ol’ blocks, everyone must first compete in a challenging Free-for-All minigame!
The better you fare in each minigame event, the farther you’ll get to move your cube. So put your skills on display and win those minigames!
Rolling your cube onto the various score tiles earns you points equivalent to the number displayed on each tile. For example, you’ll score 30 points if you roll onto a tile that’s numbered 30.
The possible tile values are 30, 20, 10, and 0. The first player to accumulate 500 points wins!
The High Roller’s board is a dynamic playing area that changes over the course of the game.
At first, all of the tiles are worth 30 points—but each time a tile is touched by a player’s cube, the tile drops by 10 points in value.
Any tiles that are left at 0 when a round ends will be automatically bumped back up to 30 points before the next round begins.
Did you notice that special POW Space in the middle of the board? At the start of the second turn, this special space becomes active.
Anyone who rolls over the POW Space will instantly rock all of the tiles across the whole board, decreasing every tile’s value by 10 points.
However, any tiles that read 0 when the POW Space is hit will be boosted way up to 30 points again! Look for opportunities to roll over the POW Space and blast those zeros into game-changing heroes!
We mentioned that you’ll be playing minigames during High Rollers, right?
Succeeding in each of these events is vital, because the player who places first in a minigame gets to roll their cube four times, touching four different score tiles and piling on the points!
The second-place finisher gets to move three times, and so on. The better your minigame performances, the more points you’ll be able to score!
As you know from playing Mario Party 9’s various game boards, Toads just love an underdog.
But instead of handing out special Dice Blocks like they do at a game board’s checkpoint, the Toad who runs High Rollers will grant special move items to players who are falling behind in the score totals.
These special items grant the ability to perform game-changing moves called dashes!
Once Toad gives you a move item, you’ll be able to perform a dash at any time. Dashing causes you to rush across the board in a straight line, touching every tile along the way.
You can use a dash at any point during your turn, so it’s possible to move your cube, dash, and then continue moving.
Set yourself up to gain maximum value from every dash!
Move items help you score oodles of points, and you can use them to mess with your rivals. Dash into any other player’s cube, and it will be knocked from the game board.
If that unfortunate player has yet to move their cube this turn, they won’t be able to move it at all until their next turn!
High Rollers is one of the more exciting and dramatic Minigame modes because there’s so much variety and strategy involved.
Move items are extremely helpful to those who are lagging behind in the score tallies and can quickly change the outcome of the game.
Make good use of those move items, and play hard during each minigame as you struggle to score 500 points and fly away with the win!
