No, Bowser Jr. isn’t strapping on his MMA gloves for this event. In Cage Match, your goal is simply to catch Jr. as he scampers all around a large wall of metal fencing.

Work with your partner to corner Jr. and capture him to secure the win!

Bowser Jr. is slightly faster than you and your partner, so you need a strategy to snare him. The trick to beating Bowser Jr. lies in using both sides of the fence.

One player should immediately move to the nearest cage door and press 1 to punch it.

This flips that player over to the fence’s opposite side, letting you team up and approach Jr. from both angles.

The player who’s on the same side of the cage as Jr. should track the little pest down. The other player can’t catch Jr. from the opposite side of the fence, but they can press 1 to punch the cage and stun Jr. for a brief time.

This is an important part of the Cage Match minigame, because stunning Jr. gives the pursuing player the precious seconds they need to catch up and secure the win!

You’ve just 30 seconds to catch Bowser Jr. during Cage Match, so don’t waste any time up there.

Study Jr.’s movements and anticipate his escape routes as you work with your partner to corner him. Stun the little creepoid and catch him while he’s dazed to knock him off the cage and score the KO!
