Mario Party 9 eGuide Walkthrough 1-vs.-Rivals Minigames

Block and Roll

Ready for some rockin’ times? In this 1-vs.-Rivals minigame, the solo player’s goal is to carry three blocks from the stack on the right to the bins on the left before time expires.

This task is made difficult by the rivals, who roll giant boulders down a slope to smack the solo player while he or she is carrying the blocks. Who will roll on toward victory?

The solo player moves pretty fast while unencumbered, but his or her movement speed is slowed while carrying a block.

It’s therefore necessary to fake out the rivals by starting to carry a block over to the left, then quickly turning around and doubling back to avoid being struck by a tumbling rock.

Use guile and your fanciest moves to get past those rolling boulders!

Compared to the solo player, the rivals have a fairly easy time of things in Block and Roll. Simply use g to stand close to one another and just keep rolling those boulders over and over.

You can send the rocks rolling so rapidly that the solo player won’t have much chance to slip past them!

The solo player has just 60 seconds to bring those blocks over to the left. This sounds like a lot of time, but those precious seconds tick by awfully fast.

Each time the solo player is hit while carrying a block, he or she is forced to return to the pile and grab another.

This wastes precious time, so do your best to fake out your rivals and avoid being hit when you’re playing from the solo perspective!
