Hold the Wii Remote vertically during this frantic battle and aim at one of the “?” logos that appear onscreen. These logos will soon change into pictures of hammers and sticks. Quickly press 2 to pick up a hammer before your rivals can take it!
After you grab a hammer, you’ll automatically use it to smack one of Spike’s rolling balls back at him. This is why you don’t want to pick up sticks—they’re too puny to do the job!
You get one point for knocking balls back at Spike with an iron hammer, and three points for whacking them back with a gold hammer. Wooden sticks aren’t worth anything—in fact, you’ll lose a point when the stick shatters and the ball rolls you over!
Soon enough, Spike will start seeing red. Like other bosses, this happens when you knock his health down to halfway. Now there will be even fewer hammers to choose from and less time to decide, forcing one or more players to suffer a loss of points each turn. Be quick to grab the first available hammer to protect your precious points!
