Mario Party 9 eGuide Walkthrough 1-vs.-Rivals Minigames

Line in the Sand

All right, rivals, line up! In Line in the Sand, the solo player must eliminate every member of the rival team by drawing circles around them in the soft yellow sand.

If even one member of the rival team avoids elimination, the solo player’s hopes for victory will be washed away!

The solo player should start drawing circles right away. You can draw fairly large circles in that sand, but don’t make them too big or the “tail end” will start to evaporate, and you won’t be able to close the circle.

Only closed circles are capable of eliminating enemies—but they don’t have to be of perfect shape, mind you!

The rivals should spread themselves out. This prevents the solo player from circling more than one rival at once.

Run all around and make sudden changes in direction to really give the solo player a hard time.

Keeping close to the edges of the sandbox can make it more difficult for the solo player to draw proper circles, but this also limits your paths of escape. Still, there’s no reward without risk!

Line in the Sand games last for 30 seconds, or until the solo player manages to encircle and eliminate every rival.

This really isn’t much time to get the job done, especially when you’re playing against a team of three. Don’t overthink things too much; just make those circles as big as possible, and keep sketching them as fast as you can!
