The weapons of DOOM range from classics like the Super Shotgun and Chaingun to the futuristic Gauss Cannon and Heavy Assault Rifle. Each has its purpose in your arsenal, but inevitably one or two do become favorites. You must learn to use them all, quickly switching between weapons in the heat of battle, based on your current target.
A handful of deployable equipment is found as you progress through the campaign. When used correctly, these charges help
get you out of a jam or tip a fight in your favor. The Chainsaw and BFG 9000 allow for instant kills, but ammunition is limited, so use it wisely.
Weapon Select
Tapping the Weapon Wheel button switches to your previous weapon, while holding the button brings up the Weapon Wheel. Push it in the direction of the weapon you wish to select and release the button. This takes some getting used to, but mastering this method can mean the difference between death and triumph. This applies only to the standard guns. The Chainsaw and BFG are selected with their own button.
Modifications
By finding Field Drones in the campaign, you can select up to two modifications to add to each weapon. Once these are selected from the bots, access the Arsenal tab of your Dossier to see the available weapons and mods, as well as progress toward the Mastery Challenges.
This is where you spend Weapon Upgrade Points to upgrade the mods. Earn points by collecting items, killing demons, and completing mission challenges. Once all upgrades are purchased for a mod, complete a challenge to earn Mastery for that mod.
Once a weapon is fully modded, select the desired mod, then press the Switch Weapon Mod button to quickly switch between them.
Ammo
If you stick to one or two weapons, ammunition can become rare. Learn the benefits of each weapon and ammo becomes more plentiful. Ammo is found around the environment and it’s dropped from defeated enemies. Keep an eye out for the big munitions crates that top off all ammunition. Reroute an Argent Cell’s power to Ammo to boost the capacity for each regular weapon. This can be increased four times.
