Doom Guide › Weaponry

Equipment

Three pieces of equipment are collected during the campaign: Frag Grenades, Holograms, and Siphon Grenades—each with its own benefits. Kill or weaken groups of enemies with the Frag, distract your opponents with a Hologram, and steal health from the demons with the Siphon Grenade. Don’t forget about these items. They can be lifesavers when a battle gets tough.

Press the Next and Previous Equipment buttons to toggle between these items. The selected equipment is highlighted in the lower-right corner of the HUD.

Equipping the Equipment Power Rune increases the effectiveness of Equipment items. Damage, splash damage, splash radius, healing multiplier, and duration are all improved. Purchase Equipment System upgrades for your Praetor Suit to decrease the recharge duration and increase total number of charges.

Direct (Equipment Power I) 30 30 -

Splash (Equipment Power II) 800 0 450

The design of this weapon is conventional in nature, though it has been refined to perform at the limit of its ballistic capabilities. The UAC Fragmentation Grenade uses a Comp-D explosive package encased in a steel alloy shell, and has an effective fatality radius of about 5 meters. Improvements on the antiquated M67 grenade include a more reliable chemical fuse mechanism, interior machining of the casing to provide more efficient projectile dispersion and a trigger switch safety clip to prevent unwanted activation. The newer Comp-D explosive also ensures the radial pressure wave has no “drop spots”—ensuring full damage potential within the fatality zone.

The Frag Grenade is great against packs of demons, especially weaker ones such as The Possessed and Imps. Use it when in danger to give yourself time to get away. Equip the Equipment Power Rune to improve damage and radius. Tweaking the Equipment System of your suit allows you to carry more charges and use them more often.

Hologram

Locations Found Argent Energy Tower

This ancient piece of tech is as effective today as it was when it was first invented in the early 21st century. The Holocaster discharges an invisible cloud of ionized Argon, which a camera then uses to project an image through. The refracted light creates a “holographic” effect above the device. The decoy image has a broad color spectrum, and can be quite convincing. The device was first theorized by popular culture media of the late 20th century.

Don’t forget about your Hologram; it can be extremely effective in tight spots. Throw down a decoy and flee the area or setup at a better angle. Equip the Equipment Rune to extend the active time. Spending tokens on the Equipment System lessens the time between uses.

The Siphon Grenade was designed to work with the Doom Marine’s Praetor suit—specifically to make use of the Argent receptors found in the gloves and chest plates.

The grenade has three stages. When primed, the grenade releases a positively charged particle field around itself and the operator’s hand. Then, when the grenade is released and explodes, it releases a negatively charged particle field over a distance of a few meters. The negatively charged particles attract Argent plasma from any demon caught in the radius, tearing the plasma from their cells. Finally, the positively charged Praetor suit then attracts the negatively charged Argent cloud, and gathers the plasma. This siphons energy back into the suit, partially healing the Doom Marine.

The Siphon Grenade is handy when fighting big groups of demons. Toss it in the middle of the pack to create a red dome. The charge does not do much damage, but it does transfer part of that lost HP to the player’s suit. Equip the Equipment Power Rune to increase the amount of health received. Your suit’s Equipment System can be upgraded to carry more charges and make it available for use more often.
