Skinning
Skinners are able to harvest the leather and hides from slain beasts. After you slay a beast and loot it (assuming it’s a skinnable creature), your mouse cursor changes into an animal hide when you mouse over it. A Skinning Knife (or another item that acts as a Skinning Knife) is required for Skinning; however, you don’t need to equip the item, just keep it in your backpack. To skin, right-click on a skinnable beast. You can also skin another player’s looted corpses, but it’s good form to ask permission first unless the other player leaves the area.
The leathers and hides are primarily used by Leatherworkers. Skinning is faster to advance than Herbalism or Mining, due to the prevalence of beasts in the game.

MAKING MONEY WITH SKINNING
Skinning isn’t the best Profession to choose if you want to make money—skins and hides aren’t high-ticket items. However, in Warlords of Draenor, the hides you get from skinning can be used to supplement a variety of different Professions, not just Leatherworking or Tailoring. If you choose Skinning as a Profession, expect to use the majority of your hides in conjunction with the other Profession you have learned. Sell any extra hides or leather you don’t need, but don’t expect to make a steady income from doing so—Skinning is largely a supplement to another chosen Profession, rather than a moneymaker.

DRAENOR SKINNING
Skinning in Warlords of Draenor has been improved so that you can skin any creature of any level, as long as you have the Skinning Profession. However, your skill level determines what kind of yield you get from skinning a creature. If your skill is a lower level, you’ll mostly get scraps of materials, which can then be combined into complete pieces of leather or hides.
Skinning isn’t the most exciting Gathering Profession you can choose, but it’s arguably the easiest to level and gather materials with. While you might have to fight through creatures to reach an ore node or herb spawn, hides are simply gathered from creatures you were already fighting for quests.
