Followers

Followers are NPCs that you may recruit to join your Garrison. Once recruited, you can send them on missions, which will help improve your Garrison, or earn valuable loot for your character. In addition, followers can be assigned tasks to complete, like crafting or gathering resources, or assigned to buildings within your Garrison.

Followers have a character level, just like you. Sending Followers on missions will reward them with XP, and they’ll continue to level all the way to 100. At level 100, your followers are given a set of item level 600 armor and weapons, to better prepare them for more difficult missions against tough, elite enemies, or even raid missions.

Followers come in three different qualities.

Uncommon followers have a green border around their portrait in the followers menu, and have one ability and trait.

Rare followers have a blue portrait, and gain one additional, random ability and trait.

Epic quality followers have a purple portrait, and come with two random abilities, and three random traits.

You can keep up to 20 followers total on duty and performing various tasks. You may continue to recruit followers over the 20 follower limit, but you can only keep 20 on active duty at a time. Any followers over the limit will need to be dismissed before you can assign anyone else to tasks. Inactive followers will remain on your roster, however. They don’t go away for good. If you’d like to return an inactive follower to active duty, you may do so once per day, at a cost of 250g.

Beyond Level 100

Abilities and Traits

Each follower has two unique types of characteristics. Abilities are combat-themed abilities that counter specific threats from enemies found on missions. Matching up your follower’s abilities to properly counter threats will increase your chances of a successful mission. Traits are bonuses that buff or otherwise increase the success rate of a mission. Typically, this involves being better at fighting in a certain type of zone, against a certain type of enemy, working on a mission with a certain type of ally at their side, or even working within a specific time frame.

These Abilities and Traits are usually randomly assigned to a follower once that follower is recruited. However, the Inn building will allow you to recruit a new follower once a week that has Abilities or Traits of your choosing, allowing you to round out your roster of followers. In addition, sometimes you will encounter certain items that will allow you to re-determine a follower’s Abilities and Traits. These items are very rare, however.

Although all followers can eventually level up to rare and even epic quality once they’ve reached level 100, some followers are rare when they are found. The class and specialization of these followers help directly determine which specific threats found on various Missions they will be best suited to countering.
