A New Start
All classic and Burning Crusade races have received updated models in the latest expansion, with fully articulated animation, expression, and emotion. In addition, each Warlords of Draenor license grants one level 90 boost. You can create a new character at level 90, or advance an existing character and immediately play through the most current content with the boost feature. Players that choose to begin at level 90 will play through an exciting new introductory experience that takes place at the heart of the Iron Horde’s armies—the Dark Portal. Begin the game with new eyes and a fresh start alongside Azeroth’s long-standing heroes in a frantic battle to end the Iron Horde’s siege of Azeroth before it has a chance to truly begin.
New Zones
Warlords of Draenor features seven new zones to explore. After the introductory experience, Alliance players will make their way to Shadowmoon Valley, home to the draenei temple of Karabor, while Horde players will find themselves in Frostfire Ridge, frozen home to the Frostwolf clan. From these starting zones, players will begin to lay the foundation for an army with the potential of bringing down the Iron Horde.
Grounded!
The savage skies of Draenor are no place for players, who will find themselves unable to fly at the onset of this expansion. However, all flying mounts have been upgraded with the capability to be used as ground mounts as well—no need to leave your favorites behind.
Draenor (Levels 90-100)
Although Horde and Alliance players will find themselves separated after the initial introductory experience, players of both factions will begin to level through the wilds of Draenor in due time. Each of Draenor’s zones has an assigned level range for leveling—but don’t be surprised if you are asked to return to these zones at any given point in time.
Tanaan Jungle (Level 90)
Your journey in Draenor begins in the jungles of Tanaan, where the Iron Horde has constructed a massive Dark Portal to link Draenor with Azeroth and send their armies to conquer the land. In this exciting, action-packed introduction to Draenor, you fight your way through the armies of the Iron Horde and attempt the seemingly impossible task of bringing down the Dark Portal and ending the Iron Horde’s incursion into Azeroth once and for all.
Boost of Confidence
Frostfire Ridge (Levels 90-92 - Horde)
Horde players establish their foothold in Draenor in Frostfire Ridge, home to both the Frostwolf and Thunderlord clans. Frostfire is a zone of extremes—a frozen wasteland punctuated by jutting rocks and active volcanoes. In addition to orc clans, the zone is also occupied by the Bloodmaul ogres who run the Bloodmaul Slag Mines, the first of Draenor’s dungeons.
Shadowmoon Valley (Levels 90-92 - Alliance)
Alliance players begin their adventures on Draenor in Shadowmoon Valley, a lush valley of eternal night. The serene, tranquil forests and plains are also home to the Shadowmoon clan of orcs. Led by Ner’zhul, the Shadowmoon have begun experimenting with powers beyond their control and seek to lead the Iron Horde to the heart of draenei civilization. In addition to leveling, players will find themselves making a return to the valley and the Shadowmoon Burial Grounds, a dungeon for level 100 players.
Gorgrond (Levels 92-94)
The northern reaches of Gorgrond are a barren wasteland, the industrial heart of the Iron Horde and birthplace of the great orcish war machines. Yet Gorgrond has not been laid completely bare—the southern regions are instead an overgrown tangle of wild vines and jungle that seems to have a life, and deadly purpose, of its own. Gorgrond is home to several dungeons: the Everbloom, Grimrail Depot, and the Iron Docks. It is also home to the Blackrock Foundry, one of Draenor’s first raids.
Talador (Levels 94-96)
Located at the heart of Draenor, Talador’s strategic location is of particular interest to the Iron Horde. The northern coasts have already come under attack, including the massive, sprawling city of Shattrath, trade capital of the draenei. But there are other concerns in Talador as well. The dungeon Auchindoun is a draenei mausoleum that is the resting place for all draenei souls. As a source of potential power, it has attracted the attention of forces far more sinister than the Iron Horde.
Player Beware
Spires of Arak (Levels 96-98)
The Spires of Arak are home to the arakkoa and the encroaching orc clan of the Shattered Hand. Mysterious and reclusive, the arakkoa and their society are torn in the middle of a conflict between the winged Adherents of Rukhmar and the cursed, flightless Outcasts. The dungeon of Skyreach is located in Spires of Arak, as well as Rukhmar herself, who periodically circles the skies of the zone as a world raid boss.
Nagrand (Levels 98-100)
Nagrand is the verdant, lush home of the Warsong clan, the Throne of the Elements, and the sacred mountain known to the orcs as Oshu’gun. In Nagrand, players can confront the seat of ogre civilization in Highmaul, one of Warlords of Draenor’s first raids. But Nagrand holds far more secrets for those willing to explore. Players will work towards confronting one of the key figures responsible for the Iron Horde, and perhaps settle a more personal score as well.
Treasures High and Low
Ashran (Level 100 PvP)
The island of Ashran is the location of both Alliance and Horde home cities. Ashran contains ancient ogre ruins and untold secrets, including artifacts of immense power that both Alliance and Horde are interested in obtaining. This has resulted in a full-out, ongoing battle between the factions as they struggle to gain control of the secrets and power of the remote island, located off the coast of Tanaan Jungle.
Dungeons & Raids
Warlords of Draenor features seven new dungeons and two new raids to complete. In addition, all dungeons include a Challenge Mode level of difficulty, with new rewards and titles. Raids have undergone some dramatic changes as well: Raids now include new technology that allows players to bring anywhere from 10-25 players to most raid difficulties.
Vignettes
Questing in Draenor has also received some updates. In addition to a vast array of quests to complete, vignettes have been added all over the world. These are bonus objectives that can be completed in addition to existing quests for more loot, gold, experience, and more.
Hidden Treasures
Hidden treasure chests have made an abundant return in Warlords of Draenor. While everyone can see these chests and items, each treasure is unique to the chest it was looted from and can’t be seen again by that player once looted. There are far more of these hidden treasures than ever before—some easy to find, some requiring dedicated exploration to discover. In addition to hidden treasure, Draenor is riddled with hundreds of rare creatures who may prove challenging to fight, but hold a variety of loot, toys, gold, and other unique rewards for those that successfully defeat them.
