World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor Signature Series Strategy Guide CHARACTER CLASS INTRODUCTION

Warlock

Warlock

Overview

Warlock is the class for anyone who wants to play something sinister. You get to curse people, summon demons, and generally have a malevolent look. Warlocks are ranged casters that employ a combative pet to supplement their already impressive damage total. Though Warlock pets aren’t as powerful as Hunter pets, these demonic allies offer a bit more versatility.

Warlocks are masters of inflicting damage over time. When pushed, these casters are able to sacrifice their health to bring even more damage to an engagement. Warlocks scare their healers as much as they do their actual enemies. It’s not uncommon to see a Warlock’s health dwindle even when nothing is attacking them. You get used to it!

Prominent Class Abilities

Demonic Pets

Each Warlock pet is quite different. Imps supplement ranged damage and make the caster harder to kill. Voidwalkers act as a tank. Succubi bring more damage to the table. Felhunters are keen anti-casters. The only downside to these pets is that you can only summon one at a time.

Dealing Damage Over Time

A Warlock’s spell arsenal liberally uses damage over time (DoT) spells. These spells don’t deal damage all at once. Instead, they place a debuff on an enemy target, slowly chipping away at their health. Don’t be fooled by the relatively small numbers, however[md]DoT spells are among the most powerful damage dealing abilities in the game!

Specializations

At level 10, Warlocks must decide on one of the following specializations: Affliction, Demonology, or Destruction.
