World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor Signature Series Strategy Guide PROFESSIONS GATHERING

Herbalism

Herbalism

Herbalism is the harvesting of herbs from plant nodes, and from some enemies (usually Elemental enemies that look like walking vegetation) which have some affinity with nature. These herbs are primarily used by Alchemists and Scribes.

When you learn Herbalism, you gain the Find Herbs skill. When this skill is active, herb nodes appear on your minimap. Watch for these icons while hunting and questing and you should see your skill increase rapidly.

When you find a node, the herb has a glowing outline and your mouse cursor changes into a flower blossom. To gather, right-click on the herb in question. The same thing applies when you find harvestable enemies. When you mouse over a corpse, your mouse cursor changes to a flower blossom if you can harvest from it.

MAKING MONEY WITH HERBALISM

Herbalism is a good Profession for making money. People buy herbs at lucrative prices, even from the beginning levels forward. There is always a market for most of these herbs, and a new player stands to make plenty of cash if they sell low-level herbs in the Auction House.

Draenor Herbs: Talador Orchid, Nagrand Arrowbloom, Starflower, Gorgrond Flytrap, Fireweed, Frostweed, Chameleon Lotus, Draenic Seeds.

DRAENOR HERBALISM

Herbalism works differently in Warlords of Draenor. There are still plenty of herbs to be found and picked, but you no longer need to be a particular skill level to pick them—you can begin picking any herb at skill level 1! However, your skill level now determines how proficient you are at getting useful materials from the plant. At lower levels, you’ll only pick petals. These petals can then be combined to create an herb.

Herb nodes on Draenor drop both herbs and Draenic Seeds. Draenic Seeds can be used to create Work Orders at your Garrison’s Herb Garden. In return for your seeds, you’ll get a randomly determined, but hefty amount of a variety of Draenor herbs. You can also turn in Draenic Seeds for special cosmetic gear, as well as a special Battle Pet.

Beware when picking herbs on Draenor, however—occasionally, the flowers will fight back! Herbs will randomly spawn an occasional Disturbed Podling who is none too happy about your herb picking. Defeating the Podling will grant you even more herbs for your troubles.
