Some followers have a special Bodyguard Trait. This Trait indicates that this follower can be assigned to work at the level 2 Barracks. Once they are assigned to the Barracks, you may recruit them to follow you and assist you as you travel around Draenor. Note that while these Bodyguards will be happy to assist you out in the world, they will not follow you into dungeons or raids.
Bodyguards have three individual, unique levels of friendship, similar to the NPCs from Mists of Pandaria’s farm system. You can increase your reputation with your Bodyguard simply by killing creatures in your level range. Each of the three levels of reputation offer unique perks specialized to each Bodyguard. There are 7 total Bodyguards you can recruit for your Garrison, but four of these Bodyguards are faction-specific.
Leorajh
A Shaman Healer, Leorajh makes a useful Bodyguard for his healing abilities. At level 2, Leorajh unlocks a buff that will increase your Haste. At level 3, he will allow you to gain access to the Garrison Missions interface from anywhere in the field of battle.
Tormmok
A Warrior, Tormmok starts out with basic abilities, including one that greatly increases burst damage. At level 2, Tormmok will transform into a colossus for 30 seconds, increasing his damage by 50%. At level 3, he will repair your armor and weapons anywhere in the field.
Talonpriest Ishaal
A Shadow Priest, Ishaal will start out with normal ranged casting damage abilities. At level 2, Ishaal will gain an ability that stuns his target and increases the damage it takes. At level 3, Ishaal gains a perk that will grant you access to your mail from anywhere in the field.
Horde Bodyguards
Vivianne
A Mage, Vivianne will start out casting basic Mage abilities. At level 2, she gains an ability that calls down a meteor to burn her enemies. At level 3, Vivianne will create a portal to your Garrison from anywhere in the world.
Aeda Brightdawn
A Warlock, Aeda starts out with Demonology Warlock abilities. At level 2, Aeda learns to summon an infernal, stunning all targets in the area. At level 3, she will summon a party or raid member to your location anywhere in the field.
Alliance Bodyguards
Delvar
A Death Knight, Delvar starts out with basic Death Knight abilities like Death and Decay. At Level 2, he gains an ability that deals damage to enemies in front of him. At Level 3, Delvar will create a portal to your Garrison from anywhere in the world.
Defender Illona
A Paladin, Illona will start out with Protection Paladin abilities. At level 2, she will summon a Guardian of Ancient Kings to reduce the damage you take. At Level 3, she will summon a party or raid member to your location anywhere in the field.
While level 2 abilities are automatically unlocked when you increase your reputation with your Bodyguard, level 3 abilities are a little different. When you reach level 3 reputation, your Bodyguard will give you a quest to complete. Successfully completing the quest unlocks the ability.
Bodyguards cannot be randomly obtained. All Bodyguards are found either through quests, or from exploring and discovery. As with any other assigned follower, Bodyguards cannot be sent on Missions while they are working in the Barracks. But the perks they offer make them far more valuable fighting at your side than out in the field with other followers.
