Click on individual Achievements to learn more about how to complete them. Most of these are fairly self-explanatory, so it isn’t hard to understand what is required to earn them. Actually earning them, however, is a different story—some Achievements can be incredibly challenging to accomplish.
Achievements are account-wide, though some are still specific to each character. Account-wide Achievements have a blue header, while character specific Achievements retain a brown color scheme. Mousing over the achievement points on a completed Achievement shows you which of your characters has completed the achievement. You can also use the dropdown window to display your Achievements by those you have completed, or those you have yet to complete on the character you are currently playing.
Achievements are broken down into different categories to make it easier to find which Achievements are available depending on where your interests lie. The Achievement categories are General, Quests, Exploration, Player vs. Player, Dungeons & Raids, Professions, Reputation, Scenarios, World Events, Pet Battles, Collections, Garrisons, Legacy, and Feats of Strength.
Guild Achievements has its own tab and includes the following categories: General, Quests, Player vs.Player, Dungeons & Raids, Professions, Reputation, and Guild Feats of Strength.
General
Some Achievements don’t fall easily into other categories, so General is a catch-all category. Most of these achievements directly involve things like item level, how many classes you’ve leveled, what kinds of food you’ve eaten, and how much gold you’ve looted. There’s even a series of Achievements for hunting down critters and showing them how much you love them!
Quests
There are two Achievements that award extras in the Quest category. After completing enough quests, you earn the title “The Seeker.” Once the Loremaster Achievement is earned, you get the title “Loremaster” and a bonus tabard. Many new quest Achievements have been added for Draenor. Some require you to simply complete quests in the new Draenor zones; others require you to complete all bonus objectives in a given zone; and still others require you to perform particular actions while you’re out in the world doing quests.
Exploration
Almost every Exploration Achievement is tied to uncovering hidden nooks and discovering the out-of-the-way places and hidden treasures found in every zone. The other type of Exploration Achievement is tied to finding and killing rare enemies in Outland, Northrend, Pandaria, and Draenor. Exploring the known world provides you with the title “Explorer,” while Brann Bronzebeard awards the characters who explore all of Northrend with a special tabard.
Player vs. Player
Player vs. Player Achievements are linked to battlegrounds and arenas. Many of these Achievements call for meeting incredibly specific conditions in a single battleground, or for long-term accomplishments such as being on the winning side in a battleground 100 times! Most of the rewards for Player vs. Player Achievements are titles. Draenor has added many new Achievements for Ashran, the new world PvP zone off the coast of Tanaan Jungle.
Dungeons & Raids
Many Dungeons & Raids Achievements are given for defeating the bosses which appear in the world dungeons and raids of World of Warcraft. When you start running heroic versions of dungeons, there are additional Achievements tied to completing specific tasks while facing the bosses in the dungeons. There are even more Achievements tied to defeating raid bosses on different levels of difficulty, or performing certain tasks while in a raid group. Typically, mounts are rewarded for completing all of these additional tasks for both heroic dungeons and raids as well. The rewards for Achievements in Dungeons & Raids include titles, mounts, and cosmetic armor.
Professions
Profession Achievements are centered on secondary professions (Archaeology, Cooking, First Aid, and Fishing) since each character is limited to only two primary professions. The change to account-wide Achievements has opened the door to a few new Profession Achievements, but they’re tied to reaching the maximum skill level in each profession. Some of these Achievements reward unique titles and items. In Warlords of Draenor, completing some of these Profession Achievements will unlock Level 3 Blueprints for your Garrison.
Reputation
Improving your Reputation with the many factions found in World of Warcraft has become an increasingly important facet of the game to every type of player, and for many reasons. Many factions are the source of improved equipment, mounts, and companion pets. The Achievements tied to these improved Reputations are mainly new titles, but the Achievement for earning Exalted reputation with at least three Draenor reputations is the Level 3 Garrison Blueprint for the Trading Post.
Scenarios
Scenario Achievements are similar to the ones found in Dungeons & Raids. Many of them are tied to simply completing each Scenario, but others call for meeting specific conditions while completing an encounter. The Scenarios tab also includes Achievements associated with the Proving Grounds.
World Events
World Events Achievements include Achievements earned during special dates (typically marked on the in-game calendar) that include holidays and celebrations. There are Achievements tied to each date, and these Achievements take on many forms. While many are tied to completing quest lines, some holiday Achievements require trips to dungeons to face bosses that appear only during the holiday or visiting battlegrounds.
The other types of World Event Achievements are earned while completing tasks in certain areas of the world, like the Argent Tournament and the Brawler’s Guild. While neither of these are typical World Events marked on a calendar, they include several Achievements for completing specific tasks and challenges.
There are many titles to earn from World Event Achievements, but if you complete the Achievement “What A Long, Strange Trip It’s Been” you earn a Violet Proto-Drake mount.
Pet Battles
Pet Battles Achievements are earned by collecting pets, using them in battles, and improving your pets to the maximum level. The rewards from this category of Achievements include titles and even more pets to add to your collection. Completing 1000 pet battles in Draenor unlocks the Level 3 Garrison Blueprint for the Pet Menagerie.
Collections
The Collections tab is new with Warlords of Draenor, and it includes Achievements that involve collecting things like tabards, bags, rare items, mounts, and toys. Several mount collecting Achievements reward an additional mount.
Garrisons
Garrison Achievements all involve various activities with your Garrison. There are four different Garrison categories: Buildings, Followers, Missions, and Monuments. Many of the Garrison Achievements unlock Level 3 Garrison Blueprints for your Garrison buildings, offer special titles, or even monuments you can display in your Garrison.
Legacy
Legacy Achievements are a new category added with Warlords of Draenor. These are Achievements that have been removed from the game and are no longer obtainable. This could be due to certain items being removed, like Valor Points, Dungeon and Raid Emblems, and Stone Keeper’s Shards; it could also be due to the removal of certain quests or reputations; or it could simply be because a dungeon or raid was removed or updated.
Feats of Strength
Feats of Strength Achievements are generally awarded from one-time occurrences, such as logging in during an Anniversary celebration, obtaining a Collector Edition pet, or being part of a leading Arena Team for a specific season. Other Feats of Strength involve obtaining incredibly rare or hard-to-obtain mounts or legendary weapons. Additional Feats of Strength involve completing tiers of raid content before the next raid tier comes out, typically called Ahead of the Curve.
Guild
Guild Achievements can be unlocked only while you are in a guild, and most of these Achievements require groups with a majority of characters from the same guild to work together in various ways. Many of these Achievements mirror those found in other categories (mainly Dungeons & Raids and Player vs. Player), so you should earn an individual Achievement at the same time as the Guild Achievement. Some Guild Achievements unlock special rewards that can be purchased from any Guild Vendor, like pets, mounts, recipes, and even cosmetic items like Guild shirts.
