Make sure you hop each time you jump from a ramp. This provides a jump boost and ensures you can reach the higher item boxes.
If you need a few extra coins, check the curve just past the track’s first jump. Veer to the left as you cross over the dash panel, then drive onto the track’s banked section. This route takes a little longer, but there are a few dash panels to keep you from falling too far behind.
As you approach these item boxes, remember to account for the currents. If you’re nudged out of position, you might wind up empty-handed. Of course, your main focus should be staying on the track!
If you take the left path past the first anchor, watch out for the hole in the deck. If you have a Banana, consider dropping it as you drift through this curve.
Bananas are particularly effective near the Sidesteppers. If you drop one here, the next racer will have a tough time getting through the area.
