If you’re using a lighter racer, beware of jostling on the bridge. It’s great if you manage to grab an item box, but it won’t do you much good if you’re knocked clear off the path. Heavier racers have a clear advantage at this location. The bridge is also a great spot to drop Bananas during the remaining laps.
The stalls offer plenty of great locations to drop a Banana or ricochet a Green Shell. Your opponents are sure to have similar plans, so use the Touch Screen to locate nearby threats as you head into the bazaar. If the main path is too cluttered for comfort, slip into the walkway along the right wall, or use the dash panel near the village entrance to take the high path through the market.
Keep a watchful eye on the smaller urns along the path. During a Grand Prix race, you’ll find them scooting into your path. If you see a pair of eyes peeking out from under the lid, keep your distance! Heavier racers can gain an advantage by jostling nearby opponents into these obstacles.
The rooftops provide several tactical options. Place a Banana at the top of a ramp, or jump across the gap and drop one when you land. The narrow path doesn’t offer much room to dodge; even if a player avoids your trap, it may force them into a nearby obstacle. Lightning strikes are a real worry for airborne racers. If you manage to collect one of these rare items, use it while an opponent is approaching a ramp or gliding back down from the rooftops.
You shouldn’t have much trouble collecting coins, but hanging on to them can be challenging! If you need to replace lost coins, look for them as you approach the finish line. If you spot one, chances are you’ll find a few more on the nearby steps.
