When the race begins, try to draft behind any of the racers ahead of you. Since none of your opponents have an item yet, this is a great place to practice this technique. If you pull it off, you can push your way to an early lead and claim one of the item boxes near the bridge. Pay special attention to any opponents driving close to the ledge. Jostle them as you pass by to knock them off the track! There are plenty of steep drops along the course, so look for similar opportunities as the race progresses.
The tunnel is a great spot to drop a Banana or ricochet a Green Shell. Bananas are particularly effective when there are vehicles in the area; your opponents are much more likely to fall into your trap when they’re forced to avoid slow-moving traffic.
The road offers the fastest route through the area, but your opponents can make it difficult to drift through dangerous turns. If you’re getting bullied on the ground, consider taking to the skies! Look for the hidden tunnel in section 2. As you drive along the island’s edge, stay to the right. When the course leads back inland, watch for the tunnel, then drop down and head inside. Drive over the glide panel at the path’s end, hop up to perform a barrel roll, then glide back to the road.
The second glide panel is located about halfway through section 3. Look for the dirt path leading off to the right, then follow it toward the lighthouse. After you cross the first dash panel, the path curves to the left. Drift through the next dash panel, then Super Mini-Turbo to the glide panel at the path’s end. Hop into the jump to gain a small boost as you begin your glide.
As you glide, look for the large fan floating above the ocean. Cross over the current to extend your glide, and veer back toward the road. When you land, drift, draft, and boost your way to the finish line!
Drifts and Mini-Turbos are just as effective, but you need to make one small adjustment: All of the turns are reversed in Mirror mode!
