Mario Kart 7 (3DS) eGuide Kart Assembly

Introduction

Assembling your kart does more than show off your sense of style; your selections help determine its final characteristics. After you select a driver, choose a kart and then add tires and a glider to create your ideal racer.

From the nimble Egg 1 to the sleek B Dasher, there’s something to satisfy everyone—as long as you’ve unlocked the parts. When you start a game, you have a few basic options. To unlock all of the secret parts, you’ll have to test your skills in the Grand Prix cups. When playing alone, collect the coins from each track. Each time you collect enough to earn a reward, a random part is unlocked. Next time you assemble a kart, unwrap the gift box to see what you received.

There’s no telling which part you’ll get, but if you keep track of your coins, you’ll always know when to expect your next reward:

During online play, you have an alternate way to unlock kart parts. If you claim victory over a Mii user who is connected to StreetPass, you can obtain one of the parts that player was using! No matter your chosen method, try to collect every part. The more options you have at your disposal, the better your chances of assembling a kart that complements your play style!

Gold Parts

Unlike most kart parts, gold parts are not unlocked at random. Each gold part has two specific conditions attached to it; meet at least one of these conditions to unlock the part. For specific details, look for the gold parts at the end of each list.

Be warned! Gold parts indicate a significant achievement. You’ll have to put in a lot of time to earn one.

Your choice of kart effects almost all aspects of the final assembly, but there are a few characteristics that vary greatly from kart to kart—not all of which are indicated during kart assembly. When comparing karts, note the dramatic differences between land speed, water speed, and Mini-Turbo characteristics.
