Mario Kart 7 (3DS) eGuide Lightning Cup DS Airship Fortress

Time Trial

From the starting line, continue straight down the track, avoiding any Banzai Bills that are heading toward you. At the first turn, drift left and release it just as you go around the corner. Immediately following the Mini-Turbo boost, begin drifting to the right. Release the drift when you are lined up with the dash panel ahead.

Once you gain the boost from the dash panel, start drifting to the right. As you go around the corner, be careful to avoid the Rocky Wrenches that are all over the track. Release your boost where the track starts turning left.

Begin drifting to the left as you pass through the large doors. Continue holding the drift and collect any coins that cross your path. Release the drift for a Mini-Turbo boost as the course straightens out.

Be careful to avoid the cutting torches through this area. They move back and forth on the track at regular intervals. If you time it correctly, you can drive straight down the middle of the track past them.

As soon as you pass by the cutting torches, begin a drift to the left. You should have enough time to get a Mini-Turbo boost before reaching the dash panels ahead of you.

Immediately after landing from your glide to the tower, start a drift to the left. Hold this drift until you reach the bottom of the tower. When you see the red-and-white arrows on the wall ahead of you, release the drift and begin a new drift to the right.

If done properly, you can get a Mini-Turbo boost from your last drift. As soon as you do, start a drift to the left and slide toward the wall away from the pit to the left. Use the coins to guide you in the direction in which to drift. Collect the two coins as you round the last corner before the finish line.

Tactics for Laps 2 and 3

Use the same basic tactics to complete the remaining laps. The Banzai Bills and Rocky Wrenches will keep you on your toes, but you shouldn’t have any trouble dodging them.
